My Project Is Getting Closer . . .
It’s getting time to post and stir something amazing.
Art. What is art? Where does it end and where does it begin? Who is an artist, and what is the meaning behind illustrated novel, abstract novel, or comic?
Those are the words I am now exploring myself. For many years, I have been satisfied with merely exploring one side of my creative self, but for the last few, I have felt an urge to incorporate something new into it.
I wanted more than words. I want to create a new feeling to my work. However, I am not a drawer. I took art in college even, but my work that is best is real to life work. Therefore, I could never dream of doing illustrated work to capture what I have in my mind.
Then again, can I? For what is art, is it just being able to draw well, or is it getting across the expressive mood of your work. Can I not find a way to create a form that will let me explore more than my written words?
This year, though it has been hard, I have been laying and making trails for myself to try something new and explosive to me. I call it interactive fanfiction, or visual fanfiction if you prefer.
Instead of simply words, I am creating huge backgrounds and pictures to convey those words, like a comic, except nothing is hand drawn. It is mixed media, made from everything from screencaps of movies/tv’s, pictures, games, and stock photography.
The goal is to let the words lead, but leave an illustrative trail behind it.
I call it interactive though, because it’s more than that. I want to share what pulled me into the ideas (behind the scenes) alternate ideas that never happened, share the music, videos, events that inspired it, and the texting story adaptions.
The media and feel to it should be a combination, a journey through what you experienced canonically, with those obvious traces that it’s not official. For example, everything may seem very official with the words and such, yet the art incorporated manga screenshots with tv screenshots or photo stock pictures keeps it all in a strange vibe.
A mixed feeling of something bizarre and something refreshing.
On this tumblr, I will be focusing more on the process of it and fiction in general as I also start to tackle my own unique work much in the same way.
For each fandom though that I am doing this for, they will have their own unique tumblers, so that the stories and interactive experiences aren’t lost. This tumblr specifically is for my own unique original projects (no fandom included.) I will definitely make a post highlighting what I am doing in my fandoms though.
The goal isn’t just to stay in one place, or to finish a complete project for one place. The goal? Isn’t the end, it’s the journey. Although I will only be doing this for finished projects (for those who really just want to read the whole thing), the goal is definitely the journey.
