A Group of hearing-impaired Chinese dancers performing the Thousand Hand Guan Yin dance. Now, I’m not Chinese nor do I pretend to know everything about their history and their rich culture, but I do remember my mother reading me a story about Bodhisattva Guan Yin when I was little (yeah, these were the childhood stories I got, those and a somewhat sanitized version of Edgar Allan Poe and Alexandre Dumas, etc). She was known as the Goddess of Mercy in Buddhist legend, and she supposedly had a thousand arms to help everyone in need. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
And can I just say how awesome these dancers are? They can’t hear the music, and yet they’re completely synchronized in the most exquisite way. I now feel woefully inadequate with my two functioning ears and my two left feet
