“Miss Ives, what an entirely pleasant surprise.” Dorian’s face was, contrarily, the epitome of placidity, paired with a signature charismatic smile that lined the smooth curve of his lips. When you lived as long as he did, surprises were generally unheard of, but Vanessa had always been a rather refreshing and exciting deviation from the norm. It had been some months now, however, since he last saw or heard from her. For quite awhile he’d been under the impression that the time for he and she had ended; yet another interesting chapter to write off alongside the plethora of unique events in his life. Evidently, he was mistaken. “Please do come in,” he offered, widening the opening of his door and stepping aside all in one, graceful movement.
