Nate had no intention to stay in touch with anyone he met at the rehab center. It was a hard time. Thinking about it only brought back terrible memories. Not that it all was bad back there. But Nate had wanted to move on and leave it all behind. He was doing better, sure. But wasn’t he just now about to get drunk? He didn’t want to hear about how well everyone was doing, didn’t want to see how they had their life sorted out. Nate didn’t, he was a mess. What was he supposed to say to any of them? That rehab didn’t really fix much? That he was still the same fucked up little shit? And yet, there she was. Ivy. Nate had been invited by some friends from work for a few drinks. He saw Ivy as he made his way to the bar to get another drink. Not sure if she’d even want to talk, he gave small smile and raised his hand in greeting before taking a seat.

Ivy is so not equipped to handle this situation on her own. The guy sitting at the bar next to her will not stop flirting with her, no matter how many times she points out that she’s here with another guy, conveniently leaving out the detail that the guy she’s with is her best friend. He’s currently rattling off his list of professional accomplishments and she’s nodding along, taking a long sip of her drink as she tries to discreetly look for Dex, hoping that he’ll save her from this mess. Really, what could be taking him so long in the bathroom? Weren’t guys always bragging about how much quicker it was for them? “Yeah, that’s really cool, you’ve done a lot that’s crazy impressive, but like I said earlier, I’m kind of here with someone and he’s just in the bathroom and I just don’t want to give you the wrong idea, you know?” she asks, rephrasing her disinterest for what has to be the tenth time.
Ivy: Stop making me think about you. I’m busy.
Ivy: (but really, please continue)

Ivy was walking back from the kitchen with her drink, trying to find Buddy in the surprisingly decent sized crowd that had gathered in Rosie’s apartment when she slammed right into someone. She gasped when she realized some of her drink spilled on them. “Oh my god, I am so sorry, so, so, so sorry,” she gushed, hurriedly looking around for something to help wipe the drink off the other girl. “That was totally my bad, holy shit, I am so sorry.”
"The look on your face makes me think I've just told you I'm about to sacrifice you to a pack of wolves when in reality all I did was hand you an apron." Maeve couldn't help but chuckle, an amused expression on her face which was a little bit different from the one Ivy was currently sporting right now. "I promise I'm not going to throw you into the deep end to drown whilst I go swanning off." She reassured her. "I just thought making some cupcakes would be a good way to get you used to the kitchen and getting the lay of the land of where things are kept."
