Alright, hear me out; Will hates Nate so much before he even meets him because Nate is exactly the kind of guy that Will always pretends to be. Will puts on an act of drinking and whoring and generally being a fool with no respect for the love shown to him because he feels it's the only way to protect his loved ones. Nate is just genuinely like that, and it kills Will to see somebody being offered so much love and throwing it away for his own greed. Nate has Tessa doting on him constantly, and Will can never know if Cecily would act that way for him.
