rowan was definitely overthinking this. she’d changed way too many times and spend too much time staring at herself in the mirror. she had finally settled on an outfit and finished getting ready just in time for the other to knock on her door. she tried not to seem to eager but in all honesty, she kind of was. she rushed toward the door and swung it open, offering the man a sweet smile. “hey.” she greeted, leaning against her door a little bit. “you look great.” she added, “ready to get out of here?”

She sat there, next to the hospital bed with her palm pressed against one of Rowan’s cheeks as she cast one more worried look at the brunette before closing her blue eyes and slumping against the back of the uncomfortable chair. If there was a time that Caroline felt like absolute failure, she’d mark that moment as hash one. For not being there when her niece obviously needed all of her family.
