evelyn had been counting down the days until her and sasha could reunite. she knew getting there meant she had to face what she'd been putting off for a long time, ending things with natalie. the conversation was difficult as expected. there were a lot of old wounds that resurfaced and newer unspoken truths shared. however, evelyn didn't dare to mention that there was anyone new. the divorce was finally underway and there was a big sense of relief. for the first time in a long time, evelyn felt a weight be lifted off of her shoulders. she felt as if she was finally able to move forward with her love life.
the chaos of the starting the process of the divorce brought its own set of challenges. evelyn and natalie had to have their awkward run-ins as natalie packed up her belongings. small arguments over what belonged to whom. and natalie begging and accusing her of things, evelyn swore she didn't do - like find another woman. all of this drained evelyn in ways she should have expected. nearly every day after their talk, she had been avoiding the kitchen. choosing to eat out rather than deal with the effort of cooking and cleaning.
evelyn arrived at one of her favorite restaurants - her commanding aura was so effortless. she approached the hostess for her pick-up order, but was informed that her order wasn't quite ready yet. the small delay irritated her, but she kept it to herself. standing by the counter, her eyes began to wander across the room, until her heart seemed to drop. there was sasha, and just before evelyn could form a smile, the man sitting next to sasha touched her back in a way that was more than just friendly. the way his hand lingered made evelyn's blood boil and she wasn't able to just stand there and watch this unfold. her heels clicked sharply against the hardwood floor. her body was moving faster than her thoughts could keep up. before she was at their table, evelyn spoke out-loud, "what the fuck is this? who the fuck are you?" her tone was sharp as her eyes were pierced on the man. in complete disblief, her eyes landed on sasha before she scoffed, "you're enjoying your vacation more than i would have expected."
