Although they were finally at the casino and ready to go find their missing demigods, Leda only hoped the news she discovered on the way there wasn’t obvious to Barry. She tried to put the thought away until after the quest was done, but she couldn’t help realizing she’d have to be extra careful now. She pulled an arrow from her quiver and loosely held it to the bow, ready to separate from the group. She looked over to her boyfriend and smiled slightly. “Ready for this? It shouldn’t be too hard, right?” she smirked.

Leda was still trying to get used to where everything was around camp, and the fact that she was a demigod for that matter. She was off in her own thoughts, which is why she almost didn’t realize who was standing by her at the mess hall when she went to get lunch. She did a double-take, Mark was the last person she would have expected to see there, and yet there he was. She didn’t think she’d ever have to deal with this situation, she felt a lump in her throat as she tried to speak. “Mark? Wow...I didn’t expect to see you here of all places,” she laughed nervously.

“Anna, come on, you know that’s not true!” Leda pleaded. If anything, she was the one who felt out of place, Barry and Anna had so much history together and she was so new...to everything. She was the one who was probably just a temporary fun experiment. “You and Barry, you guys know each other like no one else. That means something, it always will.”

“I need your help. Right now,” Leda grabbed her best friend by the arm and dragged her off towards the gas station bathrooms. She couldn’t believe her luck, the realization that she hadn’t noticed until just now on their way to saving demigods? Worst timing ever. She gave no explanation for them separating from the group until they were at the washroom. “Guard the door,” she ordered before locking herself in the bathroom and taking out the plastic stick.

It didn’t take long for her to open the door again and finally look Lena in the eyes. “Can you wait with me?” she asked, fear clear in her expression as she lifted the little stick that would soon tell her if she was pregnant or not.

Leda shook her head. “Don’t say that, you deserve it just as much.” She’d given a lot of thought to this ever since Barry had admitted he was going on the quest, so she took a deep breath to gather her courage. “I don’t think it’s a mistake, those demigods need us. And that’s why I decided to volunteer too. Theo trained me a lot before he left, I think my archery and powers could really help. You won’t be alone.”

“You’re safe now, you have nothing to be scared of,” Leda took his hand in hers. “And you’re so brave, and so strong. If you ever do get scared, I’ll always be here for you. You don’t have to do it alone.”

“Excuse me?” Leda nearly yelled at her best friend. “Don’t talk like that, ever. I can’t lose you, Lena. You’re the other half of my soul, I can’t do any of this without you. When we go on this quest, we’ll have each other’s backs, and we are BOTH coming back to camp after.”

“I know you’re right, that it’s for the best,” Leda sighed. “But I had just started getting things ready for Theo to meet his daughter and now he’s gone,” she shook her head. She was glad she had told her mother not to share that bit of information yet with Helen, that would be a lot of disappointment for a four year old to handle. “I shouldn’t have gotten my hopes up. I’m sorry, I know he’s your friend.”
