Neighbors (Hawks x Miku x Katsuki)
Chap 9. Sidechick vs Main Chick
Miku snuggled deeper against Katsuki’s chest, relishing his grumbling complaints about ‘idiots who didn’t know how to filet a fish without shredding it to pieces’.
Her boyfriend’s deep, raspy laughter was music to her ears as he stroked the space between her wings. Miku cooed, eyes fluttering shut contentedly—until a loud knock sounded at the door.
“Don’t worry about it, babe, I got it.”
Katsuki scooped up Miku’s petite body and lay her on the couch in his place before heading to the door.
The minute his crimson eyes fell on the surprise visitor, his mood darkened.
“The fuck are you doin’ here?”
“Well, I was here to see Miku, but now I’m thinking I should give you the number to my public relations coach,” an amused voice replied. “You really need to work on your manners my guy.”
At the sound of the familiar voice Miku perked up immediately, pulling herself off the couch. She joined her boyfriend’s side wearing a worried look.
He gave her a little salute. “Heyo, kid!”
“What are you doing here?”
“Just wanted to bring you a little something to say thanks for the dinner,” he handed her a bag of takeout. “I’m not much of a cook, but I figure this would do just as good.”
Miku peeked inside and saw the takoyaki from the same place they had ordered from when they first met. She smiled fondly.
“Aww, Hawks! That’s so sweet.”
Katsuki cleared his throat, arms crossed and eyes narrowed. “If that’s all—“
“It’s actually not.” Hawks interjected, in a harsher voice than Miku was used to.
She nudged her boyfriend, leveling a chastising glare at him.
“Whatever.” Katsuki grabbed the bag of food from Miku and cut his eyes at the winged man one last time before retreating into the apartment.
Miku sighed, giving Hawks an apologetic little smile.
“Sorry about...” she gestured behind her.
Hawks smiled back. His jovial attitude back in place.
“It’s cool. I uh, actually just came by to say; you won’t be seeing me for a while. I’m headed back to Fukuoka.”
“What?” Miku’s wings drooped slightly at the news.
“Yeah,” Hawks ruffled his hair. “I’m needed on the home front. So I won’t be back for a while. Just wanted to let you know in case you wondered why you weren’t seeing me around.”
Miku pouted up at him, wings drooping a little more and Keigo felt a strong and sudden urge to wrap her up in his arms and kiss her. He gave the instinct a mental drop kick.
“Well, when will you be back in town?”
“Probably in a couple months once I’m certain things are cool back home, but if I’m needed sooner...” he cracked an intimate little half smile, but didn’t finish.
Miku’s face burned as her mind rewinded back to a couple weeks earlier when they’d had ‘that’ conversation over dinner.
“Well,” she spoke up, “I know you need to get back to your agency, but this place isn’t gonna be nearly as fun without you around.”
“That’s true,” the man sighed with a flippant shrug.
Miku giggled, rolling her eyes. “But I’m glad I got to meet you.”
“Oh! Will you be at the hero charity ball this year? I know you don’t always come regularly, but I’ll be performing, and it would be cool for you to see me.”
“Damn. I wouldn’t wanna miss that, kid. If I’ve got the time, I’ll be there.”
Her face brightened. Keigo’s wings twitched happily. God, instincts were a pain in the ass.
“I hope you have a safe trip home, Hawks.”
“Thanks, kid,” he grinned. “You two have a good night.”
When she re-entered the apartment, Katsuki’s sour mood was practically radiating off of him.
He stared at the screen, propped up lazily against the couch cushions and deadpanned: “you give him a little kiss night, night, Angel?”
“Don’t start, Katsuki.” Miku shot back, heading for the kitchen to rustle through the bag of food.
Before she could reply, Miku’s pocket buzzed with an incoming text.
From: Fat Face Fuck Bitch
What the...why the hell was Uraraka texting her?
Fat Face Fuck Bitch: Hi Miku. I know I’m probably the last person u want to talk to, but I would rly like to get together nd talk about u know what. Plz don’t tell Bakugo. If u don’t wanna talk I’ll understand. If so, let me know when you’re free and where u wanna meet.
Miku’s brows furrowed in confusion. A weird mix of befuddlement and dread formed a pit in her stomach as she re-read the text.
“Your little admirer bring enough for both of us? Or just you?” Katsuki asked, dragging Miku out of her own thoughts.
“Umm,” she pocketed her phone, “I think there’s enough for both of us.” She replied. “I’ll fix us a plate.”
With that, she tried to push the cryptic text to the back of her mind.

The rooftop of Panache Cafe was hardly discreet, but it was a safe place to frequent. It was on the very outskirts of the city and visited mainly by celebrities and the upper echelon of society.
Miku strutted towards the table where the familiar, brunette bombshell was. The woman was glancing at her phone wearing a worried frown with her silky brown hair falling in her face and her shapely legs crossed. Fuck it was annoying how fine she was.
Maybe that’s why Katsuki—
Miku pushed the thought away.
When Uraraka spotted the dark skinned beauty, a nervous half smile lit up her face.
“H-Hey! Glad you could make it!”
“Yeah, Well, you know what they say,” Miku took a seat while her bodyguards found a table a comfortable distance away, “curiosity killed the cat. So...” she trailed off expectantly.
Uraraka’s eyes widened, seemingly caught off guard, but she recovered quickly, clearing her throat.
“I...I just wanted to say: that I should have had the balls to talk to you about this months ago. I know it’s long overdue, but I wanted to tell you just how sorry I am.” She held Miku’s gaze with a determined and nervous look in her eye. “We laid down rules that night, and I agreed to them, and it does not matter how much alcohol was in my system, it doesn’t—“ she paused, sorting her thoughts before continuing. “The fact of the matter is; I disrespected you, I disrespected your relationship, and I hurt you deeply. Miku, I never wanted Katsuki like that. Yeah, I was attracted to both of you, but I was always more excited about you. I know you probably don’t believe that since—“
“Since I walked in and realized my man had been fucking the shit out of you while I had gone to the bathroom?”
Uraraka diverted her gaze in shame, her already rosy cheeks burned an embarrassed shade of red. “Yeah.” She muttered under her breath. “But it’s the truth. And even if you don’t believe that, please believe me when I say: that I’ve been sorry everyday since.”
A suspicious wriggle squirmed in Miku’s gut as she observed the anxious brunette. “What brought this on, Uraraka? Did something happen?”
The woman’s wide eyed gaze snapped back up at her, and for a moment she looked like a dear caught in headlights.
“Did...Katsuki put you up to this?”
“No!” Then in a softer voice, she parroted: “no. This was a long time coming. I should have always...Miku...” she sighed, and Miku could see her gathering herself mentally. “I was inconsiderate of your feelings. It’s not enough to just be sorry or say sorry. I wanted to show you that I’m sorry too.”
She slid her phone towards Miku. There was an email addressed to Katsuki’s business email.
“I put in my letter of resignation this morning.”
“You,” Miku’s eyes widened as she glanced between the email and back at Uraraka. “Uraraka...I don’t...”
“I don’t expect you to accept my apology, Miku,” the woman interjected, “but I do want you To know just how sorry I am.”
She slipped from her chair to kneel at Miku’s feet, bowing deeply.
The winged woman was stunned silent. Unsure of what to do or say.
After a moment longer, Uraraka stood. She sat back in her seat looking tired and sullen.
Miku sighed. “To be honest, Ochako...I‘m...kind of sorry too.”
“Wha?” Uraraka looked shocked. “You have nothing to be sorry for I was the one who-“
“No,” Miku snapped. “Not you on your own. You were the third party in the bedroom. Yes, it was fucked up that you and Katsuki kept going while I—even though we had said—“ she choked on the words before switching gears. “But, really, I directed most of my anger towards you when Katsuki is the one I’m in a relationship with. Katsuki should have been the one honoring the boundaries we established, and he didn’t.”
Dammit. She was choking again. Why did it hurt so bad? She had wanted the threesome too...right? She had been just as excited for it. So why...
Uraraka gave Miku a sympathetic look, and hesitantly reached out to touch her hand. The gesture was awkward and unsure, but gentle and sincere. Miku flinched, but didn’t move away.
“But it was easier to blame you. Easier to be mad at you than him because-“
“You love him.” The woman said gently.
A shaky sigh escaped Miku and she blinked away the tears threatening to fall.
“Miku, it’s not my place to say this. In fact, I’m probably the last person who should say this, but...you’re a good woman. You’re sweet and caring and I feel like you’re the type of person who loves with all their heart, but if you aren’t getting that type of love in return, then...you should leave the relationship. It’s easier said than done, but you deserve to have peace of mind in your relationship. And I-I hope I’m not overstepping my boundaries by saying this.”
She could only stare down at the soft, manicured hand against her own as a slew of emotions overwhelmed her. Miku hadn’t even realized she had been crying until another pretty hand was dabbing her tears away with a cute pink hankie.
Uraraka wiped her face gently. A soft, sympathetic little smile resting on her face as she looked at Miku.
“I didn’t mean to make you cry. I’m sorry about that too.”
Miku shook her head. “I-I didn’t mean to-I-I’m...gosh.” She dabbed at her own eyes and giggled, awkwardly. “Damn. I didn’t come here expecting to cry today.”
The brunette laughed too.
“Uraraka,” Miku covered the woman’s hand with her other one. “Thank you...for the apology.” She held out a hand. “Truce?”
The woman grabbed her hand and gave it a gentle shake. “Truce.” She smiled back.
A pregnant pause hung in the air as the women let the heaviness of the moment pass. Finally, Miku let out a deep, relieved sigh.
Uraraka chuckled. “Well! I would say now is a good time for a drink!”
