a couple of bullet points:
He’s Terence’s long lost big brother! Very old. He’s turning 43 in July, and he’s not really looking forward to it. He also has a little sister, and I’ve got a wanted connection ad up for her HERE.
Nico is depressed. Straight up, honestly depressed, and he needs therapy for it and knows it. He hasn’t worked to get that in order, though.
That being said, he’s really fragile, and he’s critical of himself the most. He likes to hide things behind sarcastic, self-deprecating jokes, but he... really is easily hurt by things.
He’s also really easily scared; his obsession with the horror genre is mostly because he enjoys having control over the things that terrify him.
He dreams about dying a lot, but is also scared of getting old and dying of old age. This is mostly because he’s sure he’s going to die unfulfilled and unhappy and that’s the most hopeless end to anything, and he can’t stand the idea of perishing like that, so out of his control.
His control issues are so bad that he’d really rather just die by his own hand than fall prey to illness or age or anything ridiculous like that.
He uses he/him pronouns, but has some inkling he’s somewhere on the gender spectrum-- presents masculine for the most part, though. This caused a lot of strain between him and his parents, especially his father. Either way, Nico doesn’t think much about it, and wouldn’t outright say he thinks of himself as non-binary. It’s not that important to him.
Nico wants to be a parent, but he’s more or less accepted that ship’s probably sailed for him. He thrives best as a big brother/weird uncle/other such mentor figure things, since he’s got a naturally nurturing personality.
Even though he’s really kind and soft on the inside, his issues with his parents have conditioned him to think that showing those things outwardly are signs of weaknesses and should be avoided. This is so intense that when he wants to cuddle the kittens he’s adopted, he makes sure all his curtains are drawn so nobody outside can see him do it.
He’s intensely loyal. Super ride or die loyal. He’s honestly lonelier than he likes to admit to anyone, so any kindness sent his way gets him reeling for days.
He doesn’t open up easily, though. In fact, the less people know about him, the better. He isn’t working on improving this about himself.
His latest and biggest relationship ended with the girl nearly stabbing him in the eye with a fork and Nico challenging her to come on, go on with it, I dare you! so needless to say, he’s coming outta tough times there. (She ended up injuring him but not blinding him, and he called her a useless coward for it.)
