Harry Potter AU
AU where there is a blind Hogwarts student who immediately bonds with the Threserals, no matter what they'll never be able to see each other.
I wonder if muggle-borns at Hogwarts can all see the Threstals because of the films and shows they watch with people dying in them. I wonder if those deaths count, even if their fake. Then again, Hermione couldn't see them at first, so likely not.
Interesting factoid:
If threstrals were real I’d be able to see them.
When Fred II was in his second year at Hogwarts he thought his Dad had lost his marbles because he seemed to spend a couple hours a day watching and feeding an imaginary pet. he never understood this until he found out was a Thestral was in his fifth year.

WAIT so why doesn't Harry see the threstals when the "horseless carrages" come to pick them up after his fourth year is over?! He'd already seen Cedric die by then, and the book clearly states that the carriages are horseless. Threstals are kind of hard to miss, so wouldn't Harry have seen them and said something about them then? Why didn't he say anything?
So the thought suddenly came to me that if threstals were real, I would be able to see one. And I really don't know how I feel about that.
