His golden, amber eyes stared at the assignment handed back to him, his expression barely changing at the sight of the large 100 written in red pen at the top of the page. In all honesty, Aether could care less about his grade, he cared more about yours anyway.
He loved sitting behind you, a few seats across from your desk. A perfect view of the 97 written on your assignment right before you shoved it into your binder.
So you’re good at math, aren’t you? He thought, as if he had not known this for quite a while now. Nevertheless, he took a mental note.
After his classes had ended for the day, Aether silently followed you saw you at your locker. He waited until no one was around to walk up to you, “Hey, Y/n!”
You shut your locker, “Hi Aether!” You turn to him, “Is… there something wrong?”
“Uh… sorta, I guess…” He muttered quite awkwardly.
“I remembered someone told me that you were super good at math and I was wondering… well, could you help me study…? It’s perfectly fine if you don’t want to though, haha,” He gave you a charming smile, masking his nervousness pretty well.
Oh, what is even the point of asking her at this point, Aether? He knows you will agree because you are good at math and have tutored some of your classmates before. Well, the classmates you like, anyway.
Well, it can’t even be helped anymore, he’s dug so deep into your life now that he can’t remember what facts about you he’s learned from other people or from stalking you.
“Really?” You asked. And you’ve always thought that Aether and his twin were relatively well rounded in all subjects… well, he is actually. But you don’t know that yet.
“Well I could help you study… Only if you want to though.”
“Really? Are you sure you don’t mind?” He asked, smiling a bit too hard from her offer.
“Yes, I don’t mind at all! We can meet at my house, after school.” Reaching in your bag, you pulled out a pack of blue sticky notes and wrote your number down on them. You folded it into a square, then handed it to the lovesick blond.
“I’ll text you when I get there, thank you again, Y/n!”
Everyday when school ends, Aether and his twin sister Lumine meet at the front entrance of the school to walk home together After their after school club stuff. Since you don’t have any clubs, you both decided to meet whenever his ended.
“Where were you, Aether?” Lumine shoves her phone into her pocket as she drags her brother out the doors by his arm, “I’ve been waiting for ages!”
“I- I had to stop by my locker,” Aether lies. Well, it wasn’t a whole lie. He did, in fact, stop by his locker, but it was to look up your address online. You forgot to give it to him, so how else would he get there?
His thoughts were interrupted by his twin sister’s grip growing stronger, he winces in pain, “Okay, okay, let go! you’re twisting my arm!!”
She let his arm go then crossed hers over her chest, “Your locker? Is that where someone asked you to do something you couldn’t say no to again?”
“Haha, very funny,” he rubbed his arm with a frown. When did she get so strong…?
“I was actually talking to… a friend. I’m going over their house this afternoon.” He said trying to avoid giving away too much information about said “friend”.
“So you’re going over a friend’s house?” Lumine suspiciously cocked an eyebrow at him.
“But just to study, of course. I got a — a bad grade on my math assignment.”
“But you’re good at math? What was it?”
A 100, “…A 62.”
“Oh.”
I doubt you need a tutor because of one bad grade… She thought, still not completely believing her brother, “Then who is it?” She leans in with a teasing glint in her Amber eyes, “is it a girl?”
“Wh- why does that matter!?” he couldn’t hide the blush creeping onto his cheeks from Lumine.
“So it is-! it’s Y/n, isn’t it!?”
“…I-”
“So it is Y/n!? I knew you liked her!”
“What!?”
Aether and Lumine eventually parted ways on their walk, leading him to your front door. He knocked on it a few times and waited for a bit until you came. “Hi Aether! My parents aren’t home yet but I told them you were coming over, come in!”
They’re not home? I wonder what time they do get home... Aether thought, but he knew asking that would be a bit too prying. So he just says, “Alright, where are we gonna study?”
“We can go in my room? I have a desk in there and chairs.”
How convenient, “I’m fine with that.”
Aether stood rather awkwardly, and not to mention rather nervously, by your bedroom door as he watched you pull up a second chair for him to sit at the desk in. Your room is, pretty ordinary to Aether as if he was expecting something extravagant.
He couldn’t keep his eyes off you, you looked so pretty in the dim lighting of your table lamp. But even prettier with you eyes on him.
“I actually expected you to text me right before you came, but it’s alright. I had everything ready anyway.”
Crap, Lumine was distracting me… “Sorry, haha, my sister had me a bit distracted.”
“Oh yeah, your sister, Lumine right?” He sat down in the empty chair beside her, “Yeah, that’s her…”
With his own binder, he sat down beside you, making sure to hide his papers with good grades… which was all of them.
After about 20 minutes of boring math work and Aether deliberately wasting time with useless questions he’d known the answer to. (but, of course, you were oblivious to the fact that Aether excelled at Math)
When flipping to the next page of the textbook, Aether suddenly winced in pain. “What’s wrong?” You asked in a most concerned tone.
“Sorry, I got I paper cut. It’s… It’s no big deal though…“ yes it was. It hurt really bad, but he wasn’t going to cry about a paper cut in front of you.
“Really? Do you need a band-aid?” Conveniently, you had band-aids on your desk. You’re just prepared for everything, aren’t you? Aether thought.
“Uh- well…” as if answering for him, you grab his hand and gently bandage his cut finger.
The horribly nervous blond thanks the Archons that you’re too focused on his hand to notice his red face. Or even his amber eyes locked onto your beautiful, concentrated face, he never wants this moment to end.
Subconsciously, Aether bit down hard on his bottom lip. But if he did so any harder may have started bleeding. Hell, he wishes it would bleed there too… only for him to feel your oh, so delicate fingers caressing his face as you are to his hand.
“…huh, Aether?”
The sound of your voice knocked him right out of his day dreams. He pressed his lips together and looked away, pretty embarrassed.
His hand reached up and he gingerly placed his finger tips against his now bruised lips, Is my lip actually bleeding…?
“Wait, what?” He’d turn to you again, realizing that you had called his name. Or asked him a question…? He didn’t know.
“I asked you a question,” you laughed. “I asked if it feels better now?”
About an hour or so later, it was getting late so you both decided then was a good time to end your study session.
“Bye Aether, same time tomorrow, yeah?”
“Goodbye, Y/n,” He waved with a smile. But right before he walked out the door, Aether turned around to look you up and down before saying, “You have a really nice house…”
The door closed shut behind him, and you couldn’t help but wonder what he really meant to say.
Wait, I don’t remember ever giving him my address…
After school the next day, he received a text from you saying that you two would have to meet at her home about and hour later because you were busy with something.
Obviously, he was a bit disappointed, but he decided to go home with Lumine for a bit. And they had to babysit Paimon today anyway.
Aether arrived at your house at the fixed time, you welcomed him in and you two proceeded to study together as normal.
It’s been about 30 minutes now, and the whole time he watched you intently, not hearing a word you said. He knew how to solve the problem anyway. But he was more fixated on the pen you were chewing on.
Oh Archons, do you have a beautiful face…
“…So I—“ stopping you in your train of thought was a text message. “Oh crap, I have to leave for a bit… I’ll be back in a second, Aether.” You left your room, shutting the door behind you.
The second the door closed, Aether stood up from his seat and began to walk around. Looking through and examining every inch of your bedroom. And yes, Aether knows that it’s rude to go through other’s items without their knowledge nor consent, but he isn’t thinking about that now.
Especially when he caught his eyes lingering one second too long on your underwear drawer…
But pocketing a few… personal items wouldn’t harm anyone, right? Don’t worry, they’re far more safe with him anyway.
He just can’t seem to keep his hands to himself can he?
When he heard your footsteps approaching the door again, he quickly put everything back exactly how he found them and sat down.
When you entered the room he greeted you with a smile, you returned his kind gesture then sat down next to him. “Sorry, I got a text from my parents reminding me to do something that I totally forgot about…” You laughed a bit before silently searching the desk for a quick second.
Then, you quietly muttered, “Where’d my pen go?“
“Oh, I thought I saw you take it in there with you?” He lied.
“Did I?” You searched your pockets then gave up instantly, “Whatever, it’s not that important anyway,” You then grabbed a different pen and continued working.
The blond did too, with your blue pen in his pocket of course.
At school on the following day, he couldn’t think straight. He just wanted to get it out of the way to spend more time “studying,” more time with you.
Oh Archons, how he would love to confess his undying love for you until his throat started bleeding. Aether just knew he would do anything for you or your love.
But, to his complete and utter dismay, he is stuck here in class — chewing on his blue pen…
“Ugh, it’s raining…” Lumine groaned as she rummaged through her backpack for her umbrella.
“Oh crap, I left mine at home…” Aether mutters, staring at the rather dismayed blonde as she pulls hers out.
With a laugh, she put it over her head and stepped outside the school, “And whose fault is that, huh?”
His sister was already getting farther and farther away from him so he really didn’t have any other choice but to take off his sweater and put it over his head as a shield. It didn’t help much, but what else was he to do?
After sending a text beforehand, Aether arrived at your front door. He wasn’t going to forget to do that again.
You opened the door and your eyes widened in shock, “You’re soaking wet! Is it raining that hard out there already?”
“I forgot my umbrella…” he frowned, remembering how Lumine hugged the umbrella from him as they walked together.
“Hold on I’ll be right back…!” You quickly made your way out of the room to grab something as Aether stood idly at the door way.
You returned with a towel in hand while walking back over to the blond. You pulled him inside your house by his wrist.
“Hold still,” You muttered quietly as you rubbed his towel over his hair to dry it, messing it up in the process. But Aether couldn’t care less about that right now. He only cared about how your hands against on his scalp, about you.
the look of concentration on your face drove him crazy, just you alone could make him go mad.
Once you felt like you’ve finished, you looked at Aether. His the look on his face made your ears burn red, his half lidded eyes and slightly parted lips… has he been looking at you like that this whole time!?
You threw the towel at him, way too embarrassed to go on, “You can dry the rest off yourself…”
“Uh- alright…” He stared at you, a bit confused as he dried the rest on himself off.
As you two studies together in your room, you could not focus. Making yourself apologize every time you explain something wrong. But he doesn’t care, he knows the material by heart anyway.
But what was really distracting you was his golden eyes never leaving your face. The light smile curved his lips as he made eye contact with you, letting you know that he was listening to your every word… or, more realistically, that he wasn’t listening and only daydreaming again…
But he doesn’t he always do that? You should be used to being around him by now. Or has your “small crush” on the blond grew into something a bit more?
You didn’t realize it until it was too late, but you were staring at him. And he was looking right back at you, the smile on his face slowly disappearing.
He opened his mouth to say something but was stopped by you leaning in and pressing a your lips against his. Obviously, Aether was a bit taken aback, he didn’t really know what he’d expect.
It was a short and sweet kiss, lasting only a few seconds before you both pulled away. You could let he was about to go in for another but stopped him by lightly shoving him away by his chest. You blinked a few times, taking in what you just did.
You liked Aether, maybe even had a little crush on him, but the idea of making out with him made you way too embarrassed.
On the contrary, he would love to kiss you until he died of suffocation. But when you pushed him away, he took a second to really think about his actions, making his face burn red.
Well I really screwed that up, didn’t I? Aether internally panicked while biting down on his bottom lip.
“Uh- Sorry…!” He diverted his eyes away from you, “I- I don’t know what made me to do that…”
“No, no! It’s my fault, I should’ve asked!” You cried, noticing how embarrassed he looked as well.
“You never needed to ask me,” he said a bit too loudly.
“What was that?”
“Nothing important.”
On the day of test, of course, Aether passed. But not for the reason you may think.
Walking up to your desk, he smiled, “I made a 96 on the test!”
“Really? That’s awesome!”
“But it’s all because of you that I’ve passed, you’re a lifesaver.”
You returned his smile, and you were happy for him, really. But his words lingered in your mind, “all because of you.”
Sure, you didn’t know Aether was only using your knowledge in math to grow closer to you, but it wasn’t harming anyone really. He gets to spend more time with you and you get… well, he hasn’t really thought about what you benefit from this whole deal.
But you just can’t bring yourself to turn him down, just look into his pretty Amber-gold eyes.
He’s so in love with you, Y/n.
