So like- just sharing here... ever since I tried improving on the recorder again (may or may not be cuz of feral pine cone man), I suddenly had a thought...
What if Snufkin actually puts much of his time and effort on his yearly spring tunes?
Yes. Yes, I know that it probably should be obvious by now, but really think about it. Remember in the episode “The spring tune ,” where he plays his harmonica for the first time in all the series? Now then remember him playing again in “Snufkin and the park keeper.” He happily plays songs in his harmonica with no care in the world, whether there are other creatures are there to listen, to the point that he pretty much bumps into a gate that was litterally in front of him. Not to mention that he plays with little my with little to no effort at all, having a fun sibling moment for them two.
(He even made a little twirl awww XD)
And yet when it came to composing the spring tune, he pretty much puts his heart and soul into creating it, even to the point that the littlest sound that’s out of order to the quietest critter watching him compose bothers him so much. He’s concentrating on the creation of this tune.
“Oh it’s no use, how can I compose when I’m being watched?”
You can argue that the tune is pretty important since it’s pretty much announces his arrival to moominvalley, but technically, who is he really playing for?
Snufkin is the type of person who knows what he wants and needs, and doesn’t really bother or need to be of anyone’s expectations or to follow any social norms (as we all know how against he is to authoritarian authority). He doesn’t really need to compose tunes to announce his arrival in spring, especially as probably grandiose an entrance as what is low key close to a a Disney musical number entrance (like, even the birds sing along as if he were Snow White or Cinderella). He doesn’t need to announce his arrival to anybody... other than Moomintroll.
And even so, as much as best friends are, he doesn’t even have to do it every year, but still he does! Time, practice, thought and work is always placed in every new art piece, and since Snufkin always has a new tune every year, you really can not deny how much effort he puts in his work, all pretty much for his dear splendid moomintroll.
And that’s the end of my ramble, thanks for putting up with it I guess 😆😆😆
