DO YOU KNOW THIS CHARACTER?
THUNDERELLA from Happily Ever After (1989)
Yes, I know them.
I've only heard of them.
No, I don't know them at all.
I drew Thunderella from "Happily Ever After Snow White's Adventures" 1989/1990
todays warm up was a screenshot redraw of a movie that randomly pops up in my memory every couple years. it’s a cute little movie called snow white happily ever after and i remember watching it all the time on VHS as a kid. the characters are really cute and funny i recommend! (cute as hecc music too)
Snow White and Thunderella 😊❤️
{ Top to bottom: Muddy, Thunderella, Sunburn, Marina, Blossom, Critterina, Moonbeam! }
More Happily Ever After reimagine/au concepts! I’m opting to just call them dwarves, and not dwarfelles, because it feels bit clunky ( how do y’all feel about it? Fans of the movie? Where do we stand on the dwarf vs. dwarfelle conflict?? ) . I’m hoping to do some full-body profiles of them, maybe sort out their armour and outfits a bit more- I got into the groove of things and wanted to make sure I doodled out my rough ideas while I could.
If there were more runtime, or if it were presented in an episodic format, it’d be really neat to see more of their powers showcased, given how important they are to the overall plot and to the characters themselves.
I did really like Thunderella’s sideplot and how it tied up at the end, so keeping it pretty similar is probably what I’d do!
We don’t really get any concise idea of what their powers are fully capable of, what the limitations are, etc., so setting some boundaries there and outlining a bit more seems like a good step. My thinking is that they’re probably limited to that realm, or even just that particular area- that makes the most sense where weather is concerned. Surely there are other wardens who control their own biomes elsewhere in that world, always immortal or long-lived folk.
Since Happily Ever After was meant to be its own thing and not affiliated with the Disney iteration, I really see no reason for them to even be cousins of the OG seven dwarves- rather, there’s no reason for them not to BE the ones Snow knows and loves. It’s tidier, no real explanation needed apart from that they have powers/magic in this story, and you get more time to devote to knowing them as an audience with less exposition. And Snow already has a friendship with them, which can be showcased and explored more!
(( Plus we can then either assume or be told/shown as an audience that they truly battled and defeated the evil Queen, using their powers combined! Who doesn’t love a good magic battle, right? I would’ve freakin’ loved to have seen that in the Disney version! Not that her dying as a direct result of her malicious actions backfiring wasn’t appropriate, but... y’know. FIREBOLT. Right? Right?!
Also! This could provide an implication that Thunderella failed to use her powers properly, perhaps hesitating during the battle, letting the others down during a key moment. This might add weight to her feeling like a failure and having to come to terms with her past difficulties. ))
This is just a not-for-profit fan work, and is only concepts for fun!

Thunderella, your movie may be kinda “meh” but I love you!!
One of my DeviantArt watchers asked me to draw Darcy as Thunderella from the 1990 film Happily Ever After... :)
