Okay but one thing Love, Simon did really well was like... be realistic... about why some people... stay in the closet?? When it “seems” like there’s no reason to?? Like sometimes your dad makes a distasteful comment about someone being gay, and you just sink a little. Or sometimes you think it’s something that will just go away with time. Or think I shouldn’t have to come out! Or sometimes you realize that there’s no hard cord reason and you’re just like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sooooo my mother reads most of my books and after I finished Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda I gave it to her to read. I didn’t have high hopes about it because my mother doesn’t really support gay people. Honestly, I thought that she won’t read it.

But she did, and she enjoyed it. She said that she never thought that a gay person will ever be likable to her, and that a gay person can be just ordinary. She said that she thought all the gay people (right now i’ m writing about boys/men) speak in high pitched voice and wear girlish, stupid clothes, but she realized that is not true. And i’m so happy that she did.

It’s still a long road for her to fully accept lgbtq+ people, but she did the first step. During the days she was raised the lgbtq+ people were totally unaccepted and were treated like animals. They looked down on gay people so my mother did the same because at that time it was normal. But times are changing.

Soon we will watch the movie too, and I’m looking forward to her reaction. I think she‘ll love that too! :)

When I went to see Love Simon, there had just been a really deep and meaningful part in the film when an elderly gentleman at the end of our row burped really loudly and loudly said “oop! Pardon me!” and my friend and I fucking wet ourselves and had to hold our breaths so that we wouldn’t do a massive snort in the middle of the quiet scene

So... I didn’t cry while watching Love, Simon exactly... but I did cry after seeing it a second time once I was alone in my room listening to the soundtrack and imagining coming out to my own family, and getting to exhale... I guess it made me cry... I mean if you want to spin it like that.

But let me put this clear.

Awesome is too short for this movie. The filmography, the music, the lights, the escenario.

EVERYTHING IS JUST PERFECT.

But the best part is how brave I feel now for telling my parents. I will.
