Add the rich, nutty flavor of thyme-infused browned butter to your classic chocolate chip cookies. These cookies strike the ideal balance of familiar and novel, making them a delectable treat for any occasion.
Ingredients: 1 cup unsalted butter. 4-5 sprigs fresh thyme. 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 1 cup brown sugar. 1/2 cup granulated sugar. 1 egg. 1 egg yolk. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract. 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips.
Instructions: Warm the oven up to 350F 175C and put parchment paper on a baking sheet. While the butter is on medium heat, melt it in a saucepan. Now add the fresh thyme sprigs and cook until the butter turns golden brown and smells like nuts. Take it off the heat and let it cool down. After the butter has cooled, strain it to get rid of the thyme leaves. Put the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl and mix them together with a whisk. In a different bowl, mix the browned butter with thyme, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix until everything is well mixed and smooth. To the butter and sugar mix, add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract. Add everything together and mix until it's smooth. Slowly add the dry flour mixture to the wet mixture and mix just until everything is combined. The chocolate chips should be carefully mixed in. Place spoonfuls of cookie dough on the baking sheet that has been prepared, leaving space between each one. After the oven is hot, bake the cookies for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the middle is still a little soft. After taking the cookies out of the oven, let them cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before moving them to a wire rack to cool all the way down. Enjoy these tasty browned butter chocolate chip cookies with thyme once they're cool.
