i own a little bookshop in the middle of a bustling city. i live in an apartment above it. i have a cat. i earn enough to go on holiday a couple of times a year. all my friends and family are happy. i am in control of my mental illness.

me and my friends used to steal stationary from a corner shop until they told off my little brother and we all got so scared we never went back there

I live in the uk and i've only spent a bit of time in the US but from the couple of supermarkets i experienced there aren't really the massive walls of windows in the same way, there's a lot less natural light, plus they all tend to be bigger so you spend a lot more time while you're there in bits with no natural light if that makes sense?

weird. now im wondering what kind of historical reasons there might be for this (british supermarket chains evolving from chains of normal grocery shops which traditionally had glass shopfronts so customers could see the goods on offer? american buildings using more land and simpler architecture bc it’s cheap and available? god knows)

i’d invest in writers from marginalised groups in order to get their inclusive art, literature, movies, etc created so that those groups can get the representation they deserve
