Listen to this new dreamy piece by artist Tillia!
@melisslay-prime
FIRST: Alternia or Beforus or some type of AU?
hello im one of those Demokratia idiots whom has succumbed to peer pressure and is submitting my boy. better fire up that tag because we might have more on the way
It’s a full-fledged Demokratia takeover LOL. Just a party going on over here.
Name (preferably include how you came up with it and why):
Linden Tillia- based off of linden trees of the tilia genus which are referred to as lime trees
Ooo, I’ve never seen someone go with this kind of Lime tree instead of the citrus sort, that’s fun.
Age:
8 ½ sweeps
Strife Specibus:
shearkind, he fights with a big ol pair of garden shears
I know he’s a gardener in general, so this does work… if he takes care of a lot of bushes, but with his tree theme, I almost wonder if he shouldn’t use a Pole Saw instead. It lets you kind of just vaguely say he uses Sawkind and then lets you put this wild looking monster in his hands. It makes sense with the idea you came up with for him needing to keep a distance, too! And…
Imagine the alchemical possibilities.
Fetch Modus:
imma be real with yall i havent actually come up with one lol
You could use a Germinate modus where he has to use the fetch’d item within a certain amount of time, or else it’ll go into a dormant state and he’ll need to wait even longer to use it!
Blood color:
Lime. they aren’t extinct on Demokratia but come with some wacky mutations
Symbol and meaning:
a little trunk with a jagged branch and a branch with two prongs. it doesnt mean much its just supposed to look like a tree
Naturalistic symbols usually go well with limes! I might tweak it a little when I get in there, but we’ll see.
Trolltag:
acrimoniousDendrology, acrimony meaning bitterness and dendrology being the study of trees
Quirk:
capitaLizes his Ls… doesnt use proper grammar and ends phrases with three eLLipses…
Special Abilities (if any):
ok you might think of me as an edgelord but hear me out for a second
limebloods on Demokratia have wacky mutations right? Linden’s just so happens to be that the keratin in his skin and hair and nails is toxic to other living beings so… if you touch him you insta-die. it started out as a joke while trying to figure out his mutation and it stuck. making skin-to-skin direct contact with him will kill you almost immediately, and having touched something he has contaminated with grant you a slower and more aggravating death.
I don’t think you’re an edgelord, you’re just trying to have fun! But considering this is for an RP group(?), I do want to acknowledge that it may be a little bit what the kids call “OP”. Which like, I don’t mind, but it could make RP scenarios difficult, so I have a recommendation that keeps the spirit of it while turning it down a notch!
So, Basswood trees are known for their Excessive amounts of sap, and so they’re popular with aphids, and ants figured this out and use chemicals in their feet to paralyze the aphids so they’ll sit there and produce honeydew for the ants to farm… This is only really necessary information as fun trivia but it does help inform why I’m gonna say what I’m gonna say next:
What if his mutation was that he secretes a sticky substance. If he touches someone, his hand will stick to them and be VERY hard to remove. He doesn’t kill them immediately, but it’s poisonous for sure. Prolonged contact is Bad and Can kill. AND because Limes are theorized to have a pacifying effect, the sticky poison also makes the afflicted individual out of it and maybe more inclined to listen to him. Sticky mind-control poison that needs to be washed off ASAP.
Lusus:
geckodad; a horseish-sized crested gecko with three long tails resembling thorned vines and a strong immune system, making him the only one impervious to Lin’s killer touch
World’s most minor suggestion: Exactly this but a newtdad instead. Because, you see…
Newts are really poisonous. They could have resistance to each other’s toxins! …Also because we don’t know much about lime lusus patterns yet but we do know Karkat was able to have a crab, so semiaquatic terrestrial creatures seem like fair game.
Personality:
Linden is a big loner and, while desperate for genuine interaction with another person, typically tries to avoid others in fear of harming them. He can be a bit of a pushover towards people he admires and is easily annoyed by people he doesn’t. For the majority of his life he keeps himself cooped up on a plantation behind a fortress of sentient carnivorous vines that keep people away. He’s also a bit of a hopeless romantic and gets a crush on almost every boy he meets.
I love this personality ;v;. Hopeless romantic son. I think my idea adds a little more tension too~ Sure, he can’t kill anyone immediately but prolonged contact is dangerous, such Sweet Sorrow. Also the more emotional fear of the chance at mind-control, another reason he could fear possibly hurting some1.
Interests:
Farming, ironically, and doing his best to keep something alive. Unfortunately, he regularly kills large portions of his crop due to his mutation. Were it not for his lusus helping him out, he would starve (which is a real bummer when geckodad dies). He’s also dabbled a bit in painting and baking.
I… is the baking a Pushing Daisies joke?
If not that might be a fun place to look for inspo! But I do love that! Lots of fun interests that are really interesting to pair with his mutation.
I think something else you could add is like, miiild beekeeping. Just because it works well with his gardening interest AND because Linden Trees are really, really popular with beekeepers. Plus honey is sticky and it is a fun joke for the recommendation I made. AND he could use the honey in his baking! Layers…
Title:
Page of Life (lol)
Yessss. That’s all I have to say, is yeah.
Land:
Land of Plains and Toxins
I like that a lot! Is the land laid to waste by toxin and he’s gotta try to like…. fight back against the toxin with the plants? Weaponized Farms.
Dream Planet:
Prospit
I should probably also add that I commissioned his original design off of a friend (@onyxshard1) a few years ago, asking for a plant-themed lime blood, and built him up afterwards, changing a few things along the way. design-wise I didn’t put a lot of my own thought into him

He’s real cute and your friend did a good job! I’ll probably focus on the overalls design, here we go:
Top down time!
Horns: I edited them to be symmetrical and a little more treelimby. I did this because horn symmetry is way more common than asymmetry in trolls- and we don’t really see much asymmetry at all (if any if you don’t count breaks) before the Jade caste. I wanted to keep the texture to make up for that, though.
Face: I did a few little eyebrow edits to make things look more balanced. I also darkened the scars to make them more visible– we know from Cronus that troll scars are darker than the skin and tinted with the troll’s blood color. I also defined the bandages a little more, just so they read better at the standard sprite size.
Outfit: I did some outline editing so that the coloration fit in better with the common Homestuck style. Dark color with light outline usually works best as the main Troll color if you’re not outright using white. I also took out the flannel. Cute as it is, below Jade doesn’t usually wear patterns! I know this takes place on an AU planet, so you could put it back in if you want, but I just wanted to go with the simple standard fashion rules for the time being.
Sign: I kept it basically the same but made the pocket bigger so we could give it more room. I defined the swoops more and also curved the trunk of the tree- I wanted to get in those Snakey Swoops and U-shapes that are common in Limeblood sign language!
Thank you for sharing this boy, I like him a lot.
