Wanda’s Deal

So as of the most recent two episodes, I think the Big Bad of WandaVision has finally shown their face, and it was a concept that was thrown around at the beginning of the season, but no one seems to be talking about it anymore. So Here we go.

First off, it’s pretty clear that Wanda made a deal with someone to make this happen. She stole Vision’s body from S.W.O.R.D. (who I’m fairly sure were also trying to resurrect Vision as a “sentient weapon,” but that’s for another post), and then with someone else’s help (either Agnes aka Agatha Harkniss, or Mephisto, or both) reanimated him and created a perfect-world reality for them to live in.

So what was Wanda’s end of the deal? What are Agatha and/or Mephisto getting out of this? Well, what’s the traditional or folklore thing that you give to the devil or to a witch when you make a deal. It is often either your soul, or your firstborn child, who would in this case be Tommy.

Now, in the commercial break for the most recent episode (six), we see a commercial for “yo-magic” a yogurt snack. In the commercial, a little boy is stranded on an island and struggles to open a yogurt container for an extended amount of time until he dies. Now, the commercial is dark enough as is, so all the fans I’ve watched cover this aspect of things. But when I watched it, the thing that caught me as important was the actual dialogue of the commercial - one line in particular. When the boy asks a shark how not to be hungry, the shark replies “by eating yo-magic!” Now of course, yo-magic is the name of the yogurt being advertised. But there are always layers to these commercials. “Yo-Magic,” is translatable to “your magic.” Someone is feeding off of Wanda‘s magic.

Another important moment. Right at the beginning of the episode, the boys are joking around, breaking the fourth wall, and they make a comment about being scared that “uncle pete” is a vampire cause he sleeps so late. Now the sleeping late I have no real comment on, but the vampire bit? Normally I wouldn’t think anything of it except we also got that commercial, about “eating your magic.”

Long story short, I think Pietro is Mephisto. Like I said, a lot of people were talking about it at the beginning of the season, but not so much now and I’m really wondering why, because the evidence for it just continues to grow the longer Pietro is around. He’s outside of Wanda’s control, he takes no issue with her taking the residents of Westview hostage, he’s aware he’s in a show (just like Agnes) and constantly breaks the fourth wall and...remember what we said about deals with the devil being made in exchange for the firstborn?
