Wintersun departed from their debut album’s sound with Time I, focusing more on symphonic soundscapes (at times with a traditional Japanese influence) while still keeping their trademark heaviness and complexity. The instrumental tracks are in my opinion the true standouts-- majestic and beautifully sorrowful. This widely anticipated album is the first of two parts and I look forward to hearing Time II, however long it may take to be released.

I spent much of the day playing around with the isolated Time I tracks from the Wintersun crowdfunding. My favourite mix was this relaxing, minimalistically elegant version of Land of Snow and Sorrow that consists only of the drums, the bass and the vocals (the latter taken down a few Db).
