Before bedtime I flipped the switch on the clock in Spawn’s* bedroom to turn off Daylight Savings Time.

Spawn, agape: Time is weird.

Me: Yes, it is. So now it’s like 9:15 so you have to go to bed.

Spawn: There’s just a button that made an hour go away.

Me: Yeah, we skipped forward an hour. People say “spring forward” because we do this every spring, but then in the fall we get an extra hour one weekend, so we say “fall back”.

Spawn: Oh, spring forward and fall back. I get their joke… If I told that joke my friends would not laugh.

Me: Yeah, it’s not a funny joke.

Spawn: Time is really weird.

Me: You are absolutely right.

Consider this a reminder from me & Spawn that folks in (most parts of) the US lose an hour tonight.

Today was indeed my birthday but it was also one of the days where fatigue somehow magically makes everything take twice as long? Not cooking the dumplings though because they're cook from frozen and I have a whole stopwatch timing system for turning them and adding water and removing the lid that ensures they turn out just the way I like them which takes 30 minutes. But forming sentences yes took longer.

Despite that I want to thank everyone who sent me birthday wishes, the words and cat gifs kept me going 🥰
