Just been thinking about this recurring dream I had all the damn time when I was like 6 that still makes me question reality.
So all around as far as the eye could see was just ocean. Dark, just about black ocean. And it was always night. But there was never a moon. The only light came from stars that actually lit the area up quite well. But they weren't, like, bright. They made everything like that space right between two streetlights at night, where it's bright enough to see but not bright.
And I was standing on these gears that were scattered around and somehow floating. Like these big gears that you see in clocktowers on tv. And there was this larger platform made up of a bunch of gears.
And then there was Time Shark. I'm quite certain Time Shark was a god.
He would be swimming around the water, and he always seemed very proper, and always had these really deep, theological riddles, none of which I can remember.
Anywhoo, Time Shark and I were both quite aware it was a dream, and neither of us minded.
The sort of, I dunno, plot of the dream is that I had to jump from gear to gear to get to my family before Time Shark killed them. He wasn't actively trying to kill them, but if I failed he would have.
My family was NOT aware it was a dream. They were in a sort of daze and completely unaware of anything around them.
Now, if I fell into the water Time Shark would kill me too and I would die in the real world. I never did. But the thing is, he wasn't actively trying to kill me either. That was the rule. He never tried to kill me. He was just ready to.
Time Shark was quite pleasant, actually. We were sort of friends? We had some really deep conversations too. There was one specifically that I remember, where I asked him if this really was just a dream. To which he responded;
"Mayhaps. Mayhaps not. Who's to say? For all you know, that other world's the dream. Or Mayhaps that place is real, and this is not a dream, but a space outside of space, a time outside of time."
And I was just like "hm. Mayhaps."
The really weird part is it alternated between first and third person. Some parts I was seeing through my eyes, and some I was watching myself as a spectator.
I have no idea why I remember this dream in such detail, especially since I haven't had it in years. Maybe because I had it all the time, and maybe because it was so vivid, or maybe a mix of both. I also don't know why I've started thinking about it again.
Call a script Time Shark, and, well, it certainly grabs my attention. For notes on your script, go to www.thestorycoach.net
