Dank Jank Combo: I Need More Time... (Part One)

The Combo

The best way to run this combo is an ambush tactic. Have Vedalken Orrery or Shimmer Myr on the field with a Thopter Assembly. Flash in Time Sieve at the end of your opponents turn and assuming you have no other Thopters in play at the beginning of your upkeep, you’ll return the Assembly to your hand and get five 1/1 blue Thopters. Sacrifice the five Thopters to the Time Sieve to take an extra turn after this one. Play your Thopter Assembly during your main phase, do what you need to do, then pass the turn to yourself and rinse/repeat the combo. 

With Pitiless Plunderer in play while you combo off, you can get five Treasure tokens to use for mana when you sacrifice the Thopters to Time Sieve. Plunderer doesn’t care if the creatures are tokens or not, which can really fuel a ton of other combos in EDH when you come to think about it.... but that’s for another time!

Can a player use Metallurgeon's effect to save Time Sieve from getting destroyed by activating Time Sieve's ability?

Regeneration can only replace destruction and sacrificing isn’t destruction. You can’t replace being sacrificed with regeneration.
