35. Any sibling characters?

Finn hassiblings, but I haven’t designed/named them yet. I’m thinking he’s got allsisters, and if he has a brother, the brother was a lot older and doesn’t livenear the rest of his family or something. I haven’t worked it out. Nothing’sset in stone. TuT

And thenPaivon and Nialla are siblings, but I basically made them and then stoppedworking on them, so I might remove them from the list simply ‘cause theyaren’t ‘important’ for anyone here to know. O:

Rowan alsohas siblings I haven’t worked on, but he’s super minor, so I haven’t felt theneed. I’m also considering taking him off the list.  >:I;;

36. Do you have OC pairs where the otherpart belongs to someone else (siblings, lovers, friends etc)?

UUUUH… My DAcharacters are all NPC’s/companions, so they could technically be encounteredin Thedas by anyone else’s OC’s. Their relationship level would vary dependingon the character and the other person’s canon. For example, Lindrel can be afriend, but he isn’t a romance option. Heee could also be abandoned and leftfor dead. THAT IS ALSO AN OPTION…

I think atthe moment, only one Dragon Age person of mine is actually involved withsomeone else’s character on more than a friendship level. I avoid doing thatsort of thing, because if I stop hanging out with someone, I don’t feelcomfortable using their character to maintain my own. I’ve had that happen to afew of my non-Dragon Age characters, and I don’t like it. It basically rendersthe character unusable. >:I So I have to make characters specifically foruse with the other person so that if the character becomes unusable, it doesn’taffect my main ones.

Right now,Buckles is close with Mindtrove’s Pharaan. ;3 Mind’s been dabbling on writing astory with them and just posted a chapter. >u< I don’t RP. Mind is doingall the writing. xD;;

37. Introduce an OC who is not quite human

Behold mylegion of elves, a couple dwarves, and a few Qunari. But uh, I guess ones thataren’t ‘normal’ races…

Morial’s aspirit of Knowledge. I mean, if you want to go with the Dragon Age spirits thathave been confirmed, he’s basically a form of Wisdom. He’s known Lindrel forclose to 40 years, and he leaves the Fade at the Conclave. He’s taken on theform of an elf so he doesn’t stand out as much, but it’s not a super gooddisguise. Morial is true neutral. He’s interested in knowledge, and he isn’tparticularly concerned with whether people are being helped or hurt. Literally,the only time the Inquisitor can affect his approval is whether they decide tohelp him retrieve (and thus recruit) Lindrel or not.

Hue is aDesire demon who’s taken over a human’s body, and like Morial, he chooses adifferent word. In the Fade, he refers to himself as Urge. The original Hue wasa human noble’s son. They didn’t want to send him to the Circle, but they alsodidn’t want others to know he was a mage, so he was basically a prisoner in hisown home. Urge offers him a deal and locks Hue away in the Fade with illusions,while Urge gets his body. While ‘human,’ Urge doesn’t use magic, and he has theInquisitor refer to him as Hue. Later in the game, there is the option toconfront Urge in the Fade to save the original Hue, but it’s been too long, sothe original Hue goes mad if you free him from the illusions. Urge isn’tinherently evil, but he doesn’t form attachments and bases relationships on howuseful people are to him. He doesn’t like changing plans, and will disapproveif the Inquisitor goes to do something and then decides to go with anotheroption (for example, he knows the Inquisitor goes to get the Qunari alliance,so he disapproves of saving the Chargers, and he also disapproves of anyoneother than Celene ruling Orlais simply because the goal was to save Celene soshe could still be Empress). He doesn’t go out of his way to murder, but he hasno problem sacrificing people or allowing others to take the blame. Forexample, if someone does something he suggested and suffers negativerepercussions, Hue will simply say that it was their decision.

Yucca’s gota spirit… companion type thing like what the Avvar do. Hers is Compassion. Hermagic started to show up in her late teens, but it was very weak. She wouldn’tbe able to stand up to a demon, so for her safety, she was given a spirit ofCompassion to protect her from possession until she got better with her magic.She never really improved, though, so she’s stuck. When away from her clan, shehides her magic, which isn’t a big deal, as she barely uses it at all. Sheprefers two-handed weapons.

I also hadan old character from a few years ago who was possessed by a rage demon. Shewas very angry. 8I

38. Which one of your OCs would be the bestdancer?

Lindrel can…sort of dance. He can move, but he doesn’t know any, like, established dances.He just feels it out. (He also tends to start casting if he’s into it, so don’task him to dance- you’ll scare the templars.) I don’t know dance styles, buthis would be one of the more modern ones that are more abstract, and he can’tadapt it to a ballroom, so he’d be awkward at Halamshiral. As in, Viviennewould give him a super-fast tutorial and be like, “I hope you survive, dear.”

SURI CANDANCE. Fancy little Antivan. He puts more energy into it than those BORINGORLESIANS.

Finn tries.He knows established dances, but he doesn’t practice them, so he’s awkward. BUTHE TRIES…

Miel doesn’tknow official dances. She’s like Lindrel in that she just feels it out, butunlike him, she can do it on the spot and you wouldn’t notice her having toadjust. So even if what she’s doing isn’t exactly what’s being taught in thepopular ballrooms, she’d come up with something that would fit.

39. Introduce any character you want

I made Tadeoup over the weekend. I haven’t tried drawing him yet, so his appearance maychange. I also haven’t done… backstory. To be honest, I don’t know how in-depthhe will be, ‘cause he’s mostly to add to someone else’s story. xD

Tadeo wasthe only templar who stood up for Suri and actually kept an eye on him whenSuri was in the Circle. There were only a few ‘bad’ templars, but most of the‘good’ ones stayed out of things, and neutrality can be bad in its own way.Tadeo ended up developing a sort of crush on Suri, but never acted on it in anyway.

Surieventually escapes the Circle a few years prior to the events of the gameseries. (He’s 20 in Act II.) Tadeo stays in the Circle and works his way up,eventually having a pretty high position. He continues to monitor both magesand templars.

InInquisition, Varric introduces Suri to the Inquisitor at Skyhold. Suri offershis skills as a smuggler/mercenary/pirate sort to help fight red lyriumsmuggling, but he asks the Inquisitor to help him find Tadeo first.Unfortunately, Tadeo is already heavily infected with red lyrium and has to bekilled.

I’m thinkingthat when they find Tadeo, he apologizes to Suri for not being able to do moreat the Circle when Suri was still there, and he hints that he had feelings forSuri. I’m not sure if he’ll explicitly say it, but he probably hints wellenough that it’s obvious.

I’m also notfully sure how Suri will react to Tadeo’s death, as Suri’s pretty aromantic. Hemay have had some feelings for Tadeo, but they certainly wouldn’t have been asstrong nor acknowledged. I think Suri would treat it as the loss of a friend,rather than a lost love. And even then, Suri does the Sera thing where heimmediately cuts himself off from the feelings he doesn’t want to feel, so hewould immediately switch channels to ‘It’s how it is.’

“Suri?”

“Inquisitor.”

“Are youalright?”

“Of course--Lights Tadeo’s body on fire.- At least he can’t be raised from the dead now.”

“Were youtwo…?”

No ‘cause I don’t really write well, but I will answer. >8I! I actually had your reply put aside so I could answer today, ‘cause I went to bed. TuT;; Gonna tag another bud who asked, ‘cause I don’t want to leave anyone out. ;U 

I have written a novel.

Omigod, my baby. He isn’t an Inquisitor, but I’m not bothered if people tag him as such. I’m too lazy to clarify in every post, and I want them to be able to go, “My Inquisitor would do this. >8U”

Lindrel was his clan’s First since he was really young. He was originally brought in from another clan. No this is not my way of skipping making up his parents- who told you that? Who would have the genetics for those maxed out cheekbones? Happy, quiet childhood, etc. Nothing super special. He always loved magic and saw it as a way to express himself and understand the world, like how someone might view the arts or language. I’d say he was kind of… I can’t think of a good word. Like, he didn’t see a need to go about making friends, but he welcomed company, and was pretty soft-spoken and smiled all the time. He was just this nice, quiet guy.

His interpretation of magic is more like a bender from Avatar, rather than like a Circle mage. Very physical. He uses himself to channel his magic instead of a staff, so his style is more like he is using body movements to shape the world, while most mages seem like they are trying to pull little flickers from beyond the Veil. Think of those firestorm spells. And force mages. And knight enchanters. Yessssss. Also, “Why waste energy conjuring something, when I can build off of what is here? I don’t need to summon a boulder to launch at my enemy- I’ll use the one that’s next to me. It will hurt just as much.”

The only other original clan member I have actually drawn and named is his former boyfriend Sizaan- a sword and shield warrior. They’d go on lots of walks and talk about their ideas. Lindrel likes to make up spells, so he’d run his thoughts by Sizaan and Sizaan would just be like, “I bet you could do that. Sounds great. Give it a try.” Another little ball of quiet smiles. I like imagining them walking together, ‘cause Lindrel is tall for an elf (more average for a human) so he’d be looking down at Sizaan a little and that’s just warm fuzzies everywhere. ‘Course I haven’t DRAWN THEM STANDING ON LEVEL GROUND.

Lindrel eventually becomes Keeper, and things are going pretty smoothly. His clan respects him and they play it safe, always camping out of sight and away from human settlements. Their idea is that the best way to deal with Dalish/human aggression is to avoid it altogether. 

The thing is, Lindrel is really into knowledge. He’s even buddies with a spirit of wisdom. He tends to leave his clan for short periods to go talk to traders and merchants so he can buy books. He’s away for too long while they’re near a town, and a group of bored mercenaries (I’m thinking Tal-Vashoth just to add that extra level of ‘oh crud’ to his relationship with Bull) decide to attack his clan. There are a lot more mercenaries than clan members, so I bet you know who won. Add another to the list of dead Dalish clans.

Lindrel returns to everyone dead or dying. Sizaan dies in his arms after giving him a little piece of carved halla horn he was going to basically use as a means of proposal, and Lindrel blames himself. He thinks it’s really petty that the deciding factor of his clan’s survival was a book. If he hadn’t hung around to get that book, he could have been there to defend everyone, or at least cover their escape.

He hunts down the mercenaries and returns the favor. It’s not revenge, though. His reasoning is, “Never again. I will not allow you to hurt anyone ever again. No one will have to go through what I have. I will not allow it.” Lindrel may specialize in offensive magic, but he has the mindset of a protector. He’s great with shields/barriers, too, but his favorite thing is rock armor with an offensive cloaking spell.

He returns to his clan to tend to the bodies and tidy the camp a bit. Lindrel takes what he needs, and continues on alone. [Insert sad piano music here.] This is basically the point where he becomes mostly stoic. He was never all that religious, but this is also where he decides that there is no way the Creators (or anyone else- including Andraste and the Maker) are worthy of worship if they would allow something as ridiculous as this to happen.

Look at that serious face. All that SQUINT. Unhappy baby.

This is all prior to the Blight that the Hero of Ferelden has to deal with.

Between the Blight and the Conclave, Lindrel travels around mostly alone. He saves and adopts a couple elvhen kids, Tinaan and Tamril (I’m thinking fellow Dalish). Technically, THEY adopt HIM, but shh. The clan of three spend their time studying and training. He passes on his need to dabble in just about every craft there is, and to constantly hunt down knowledge. They buy books from small villages and towns, sneak into Circles to peruse the libraries, sit in dusty Chantry corners with holy books, lurk around old ruins and watch history in the Fade shut up, Solas, and even sneak on a Dreadnaught just to see how it works. Tamril says Rocky’s formula for Gaatlok doesn’t taste right. Lindrel says he shouldn’t have been licking ANY explosives in the first place.

During their journeys, they help a lot of people. This ranges from small errands to saving kidnapped family members and defending towns. Lindrel honestly doesn’t think it’s anything special, but they leave a lot of thankful people in their wake. 

When the Conclave is called, Lindrel leaves the twins (young adults now) in a town they have befriended and goes to observe. He’s there during the Breach, and actually helps the Herald escape the Fade. He sends his spirit of wisdom friend Morial along as added protection. 

(I came up with that idea before beating the game, so I haven’t quite figured out how he fails to protect Justinia. They’re probably overwhelmed and separated in the turmoil. 

I also haven’t fully fleshed out how he gets out of the Fade, but he ends up a prisoner of Corypheus’s forces. Everyone needs fuel for red lyrium, aaaaaaaah. ;o; )

So after the initial return to the Breach where the Herald closes it for the first time, they return and are given the option to have Morial as a companion. Morial has taken on an elvhen form, but he’s obviously abnormal. The first thing he does if given permission to join is faze through his handcuffs. He also has a habit of forgetting to use his legs and just floating along when he’s excited. Someone restrain that spirit. >8U Morial looks like a gold wraith when he’s in the Fade. LOOK AT THAT SKINNY SHORTY.

Whether the Herald makes good or bad choices, Morial hangs around and upholds his promise to protect. However, after arriving at Skyhold he learns of Lindrel’s location. The Inquisitor can decide whether to help Morial save him, or to abandon him, in which case Morial will leave the Inquisition.

The Inquisitor and their party sneak into a Venatori fortress and find Lindrel in a cell. He has cast a time freezing, paralysis spell on himself. This has slowed the effects of the red lyrium all around, and has prevented him from succumbing to any neglect on his captors’ part.

On their way out, they find most of the exits have a lot of enemies. While everyone is debating on a plan, Lindrel wakes himself up using words wrapped in power, “WAKE UP. Alert. Bright. Buzzing. Electricity.” He is very angry about the state of the other prisoners, whom he was aware of, but could not help while under his own spell. He clears the way, and this is how the Inquisitor is basically introduced to their newest party member. “You will not hurt anyone ever again. FEEL THEIR PAIN AND TERROR AS I HAVE.” [Boom, boom, explosions, and screaming Venatori.]

Bull, no, you’re ruining the moment.

Lindrel sits out the first few missions while he takes time to heal a bit. The spell slowed the effects, but did not block them completely. Prior to the Breach, he had all of his fingers, and both knees functioned correctly. He mostly keeps to himself during this time, but he does meet a couple people, and Bull lets him know that if he needs anything, he can come to the Chargers.

He makes himself a knee brace and some new armor, and then he is available for quests. The Inquisitor can chat with him and ask for opinions. Lindrel is very aware of what he does and says. It’s a lot like talking to Cassandra, but with less obvious emotion. Taking him on missions and stuff results in occasionally running into someone he’s helped, so the Inquisition can get new items. Like a custom-made violin in Val Rouyeaux. Lindrel can’t play it all that well, anyway, due to missing finger bits.

He also trains whomever the Inquisitor sides with- templars or mages. He teaches mages how to feel the Fade as he does, and is a huge supporter of learning melee weapons. Lots of sword, shield, and dagger lessons. “A templar may drain your mana- you will not be able to connect to the Fade. Do not let this throw you off. I understand that it is a strange sensation, but this is when they will strike. Immediately raise your weapon and block.”

I haven’t really thought about what he would teach templars, but probably things like how to throw off a mage’s focus, how to identify and interrupt spell-casting before spells are completed, etc. Disabling/prevention. He’d also focus on magic they might not be used to seeing among Circle mages, because apostates have the REAL surprises.

Everyone is a little weirded out that Lindrel doesn’t claim to be from any clan. He hides the existence of his kids, and prefers to give vague answers. If Bull isn’t romanced, he and Lindrel become an item. For them, it’s a matter of trust and evolving the ability to rely on each other. They’re basically partners- I think ‘power couple’ may be an appropriate term? They’re badass alone- now you’ve got that mage and warrior pairing.

I also haven’t fully fleshed out the ‘assassins coming after Bull’ bit if you save the Chargers, but Lindrel would be super angry about it. He’s lost everything before, so he is basically like, “Why would you put me through that again?” By this time he has told Bull a bit, but not everything. Also, the ‘you go through years of Ben-Hassrath training to hide facial expressions when I wasn’t looking’ line doesn’t work with him, so that wouldn’t be a good argument. It’s possible that maybe Bull would have told Lindrel, or Lindrel would know some weirdos were around on his own. Either way, Lindrel would shred those assassins to bits before that dagger gets a chance to fly.

You get a War Table option to help Bull look up Lindrel’s clan, as he thinks he’d be happier if he heard from them. They end up finding the remains of the clan that was wiped out. OOPS. THE VEIL IS THIN HERE.

Later, there is another War Table option to find the twins, after Lindrel tells Bull about them. You can send some of the Chargers to the town to see if they’re still there. Tinaan and Tamril have been protecting the residents from demons coming from nearby rifts. They agree to come if the townspeople can be brought to safety. 

You get a cutscene after you cash in the War Table quest. The villagers are guided in and you see the twins- one at the front and one at the back of the group, as they are still in ‘protect the villagers’ mode. They break away and Lindrel scurries out from who-knows-where-he’s-been-lurking and hugs his little babies. He’s tall for an elf and they’re on the shorter end of the spectrum (but not quite ‘tiny’), so of course that’s an adorable visual. They walk off screen to go catch up.

Later on, Lindrel introduces his kids to the Chargers. Tinaan pretty much makes herself an honorary member immediately. She’s got the biggest crush on Krem, but she hangs out with just about everyone. She has been known to talk to Grim for hours, and she has a bad habit of masterminding pranks with Sera. Skyhold will never be safe. Solas’s table is full of her footprints.

Tamril ends up being ‘that weird guy who’s always sitting on the floor of the library with five stacks of books, obviously intent on reading all of them before the sun goes down.’ He’s super quiet and has a hard time pulling his mind from the Fade, so he keeps to himself. He likes listening to Dorian, even if he doesn’t actually understand most of Dorian’s humor. He tries, though, and even contributes a few attempts at terrible jokes while avoiding eye contact. He carries little trinkets that he fiddles with to focus on reality.

Lindrel makes a matching set of Kadan necklaces that look like bulls. Tamril and Tinaan contribute by making the chains and leather the bulls hang from. Lindrel starts to smile and make jokes more after you reunite him with his kids.

And then everything is cute and happy.

STOP THROWING SMALL ANIMALS AT CULLEN.

Also, to be honest, I don’t think Lindrel would work too well in the game, in the sense that he would probably take over leadership. He’s not out to become Inquisitor, but he’d do things like be the one to stay behind in the Fade and then pop out a rift a few missions later (I hope the rift makes a fart noise), seriously consider taking the Well of Sorrows, backwards engineer the Inquisitor’s mark and help close rifts… He would probably need to be ‘conveniently absent’ on main quest missions. He’s just so naturally commanding and in power that he’d accidentally take decisions away from the Inquisitor, like, “This is what we’re doing. *Is now committed to the cause.*”

OH YEAH. He eventually calls basically all companions (except for Solas and an Inquisitor with low approval) lethallin/lethallan. The Chargers and Cole are da’len. Bull is mostly Vhenan, but also The Iron Bull (with the article- or Thiron Bull to shorten it and make it more like a name name), and Prickles (because beard). And many other things (like ASS), but those are less frequent.

Lindrel’s been a character since a little after the game came out, so I HAVE HAD A LOT OF TIME TO THINK… And I haven’t even played him past the Hinterlands. …Have I played him INTO the Hinterlands? ………………. Shush, I’m playing Suri and he’s cute, too.

Also, Lindrel tries to hold his laughter in, but he is terrible at it and ends up snorting. 

“So, the Deep Roads. Do you think there’ll be tight spaces? Long hallways with low ceilings? Just hoping my horns fit.”

“*SNORT.*”

“What?”

“*Smirk.* Nothing, Vhenan.”

“You’re laughing at me.”

“No, just.. having visuals.”

“Hhhh.”

“I’ll get you out if your horns get stuck.”

Dorian: So? You and Bull going to adopt?

Lindrel: We already have.

Dorian: … Really? Where are you hiding your kids?

Tinaan: KEEPER!

Tinaan: We climbed on top of Cullen’s tower and threw a lizard through his window!
