Apple Tree Yard author Louise Doughty on Sherlock fans

TL;DR: She’s amused, but stays classy.

From this interview with Spectator Books, 16th February 2017:

INTERVIEWER: You were just earlier saying that there'd been some sort of weird mix-up with Sherlock?

LD: Yes, that was hilarious.  With all respect to Sherlock fans, it was very funny.  The rumor went 'round that Apple Tree Yard was a bid for a fourth episode of Sherlock, which the BBC, for reasons that could only be guessed at, were keeping hidden.  And so it started to go 'round the websites online, and people were combing Sherlock for clues.  [She mentions the actors' names / initials, the apple tree in the Watsons’ house, “people always give up after three”.]  So this whole rumor started, and then when it turned out [laughing] to be a real series called Apple Tree Yard, there was outrage!  And Twitter was extraordinary; the Twittersphere exploded with outraged Sherlock fans who were just furious that we weren't Sherlock.

No extra Sherlock in Korea

KBS1 has finally published their actual listings for Monday 1/23, and there‘s no Sherlock on the schedule.  (I also checked KBS2 for good measure.)

One of the third-party TV guides cited previously still shows an episode happening (albeit with no details, as we’ve seen elsewhere), but this one, which did list it yesterday, now does not.

The show airing at 23:40 on 23/1 on KBS1 is “고고학의 비밀을 찾아서 - 1부 대 피라미드“, “Treasures Decoded - The Great Pyramid”, which is a real series.

미안해요.

I’ve just had an unpleasant thought.

It’s kinda strange that the Sherlock YouTube channel still hasn’t launched the behind-the-scenes series they teased in SherlockReacts: TFP.

We've had a lot of fun making this, but it doesn't stop here.  We'll be back very soon [visual: ASiP ’wanna see some more?’ scene] with a brand new show looking back at Sherlock [visual: two guys IDK on a couch with a Sherlock mug] from the very beginning, joined by some special guests.

It’s been five weeks, and the couch clip implies that at least some filming is complete.  So my thought: What if the tin-hatters are correct, and something *is* being unleashed on March 8th, but that something is just the YouTube retrospective series, with all the “secrets” of the show?!

[I don’t believe this any more than I believe anything else without actual evidence - still think the billboard was just a creepy Easter Egg - but if it did happen, I think I would cry in sympathy.]
