So, im apparently a nature blog now... anyways time for owls

first up is the elf owl, the smallest of them all

then we have Stygian owls or as i call them, carl the demonic birb

next up is the barn owl, or the model of the owl world

There are very few hummingbirds around this year, but last night one of my cams captured this cutie. Looks like she has a white dot on the head. Could be a discoloration or could be pollen. I wish she would have had a sip but at least she now knows where it is.

A Ruby-crowned Kinglet!  Oak Hammock Marsh, early May 2021.  

He would not keep still long enough for me to take a photo.  Thankfully I at least captured his bright red crownlet!  

This was my first time seeing this bird, and oh boy, I was absolutely squeaking and vibrating with excitement!  We stalked him for several minutes trying to get a shot.  

I can’t get over the term “kinglet”.  What are the babies called?  Are they “princelets” or “kingletlets”?  “Kinglings?”
