System Upgrades (AU)

Penny: *flops down next to Weiss on the couch*

Ruby: Everything okay, sweetie?

Penny: Just a little tired. I've been working on upgrades all morning and decided to come take a break with my favorite girls.

Weiss: Just don't push yourself too hard, love, remember what you're always telling me. Penny: I'm almost done. After this I just need to test the new cooling system to make sure nothing overheats and the fans don't get too loud. Weiss: Oh, I think we can help with that, right, Ruby?

Ruby: *moves to the couch and sits on Penny's other side* Definitely! Ruby & Weiss: *start kissing their girlfriend*

Penny: *squirms between them as fans audibly ramp up* Weiss: *still kissing Penny's neck* I think your fans are a little loud...

Penny: *finally pulls away* I-I was talking about upgrading my computer!

Weiss: *blushing* Oh. We, uh...didn't realize... Ruby: *Grinning* I did! This was just more fun!

The hero sighed a little as mana burned in her palm. Reborn again. Too powerful, again. She resisted the urge to scream, then paused as the mana dissipated into nothing. A world without magic. Finally. Maybe this time she could have a normal life.

Maybe this time the nameless gods would be kind.

current WIP

“There are better people out there for you.” Tommy tells him.

Buck holds his phone to his face. It gives him the illusion of yelling at Tommy in person. He can see Tommy’s photo smiling brightly at him, and his name still has a little stupid heart next to it. They are talking at 1 a.m in the morning. Tommy picks up at the third ring like always. Like so many nights when they were separated by shifts. Like so many late night phone sex Tommy had indulged him, his deep, calming voice wouldn't stopped telling Buck how good he made him feel even through their climax.

Now the same voice brings him pleasure tells him to find someone else, and he couldn’t hold back and yells, “I don’t care!”

He yells again through his trembling voice, “I don’t care if it’s Matt fucking Bomer waiting to be my next. They are not you! I’ve only ever wanted you!”

“I don’t…I don’t want anyone else if they’re not you.”

“Ev- Buckley.”

There’s panic in Tommy’s voice. The cool, competent pilot can never handle a upset Buck.

And if anything. Buck loves to pile on his brattiness when he sees the chance.

“I hated it when you don’t call me Evan anymore.” He might whine a little.

“I thought—“

“You’re not people. You’re Tommy. My Tommy.”

“After all this time?” Tommy’s voice cracks incredibly.

Buck wants to laugh at the dramatic in his man. It’s only been two month. Grant its been hellish, but it has only been two months. Already Tommy is making Buck sound like Severus Snape holding a never-dying torch for the dead mother of Harry Potter.

He laughs, then answers solemnly, “Always.”

3. It was her first instinct, really, but she leaned forward and caught Isabela by the waist before she made her way any further into the village.

“Let me go,” her older sister hissed, her colourful hair no longer pinned up, now dishevelled. “Luisa.”

4. “What mother in mourning has another child so soon after the death of the other? I’ll tell you what mother - a terrible one!”

5. “Tía Julieta would get upset if she heard what you were saying about her and it’s not healthy for her or for the baby,” he said with all seriousness, a clear disappointment on his face. “You don’t want to hurt them, do you?”
