I know we all love murderhobo Tails, but I have a slight variation on that: Tails is still a kid even though he acts older, and I genuinely believe he hasn't had the realisation that other people are real yet. That sounds bad, so I'll badly explain myself.
I cannot find it now but I remember being taught when I was a teenager in therapy that somewhere in the early teens (where I was) people sort of suss out that other people are real - you obviously knew they were, but you're able to actually conceptualise it now that you have a bit more brain and life experience. I thought this was pretty unhelpful at the time, and that therapist was crap, so it may not be true. But it has effected how I read child characters, if not actual young people.
It's pretty easy for Tails to defeat an enemy. If something seems like it's attacking him, he has an easier time fighting until their last punch than Sonic does. I don't think he's actually bloodthirsty or wants to be violent, but he also doesn't get as weighed down about being honourable and considering the other person yet, especially when fighting. This isn't a lack of empathy - he's very empathetic - but I don't think it keeps him up at night. Yet.
I think it really will when he gets that emotional experience. He's so very smart in many ways, and I think he thinks he has it all figured out. He's analytical and efficient, even, when he needs to use force he is extremely good at it - but he'll get better at conflict navigation when he gets just a little bit older, and he might be a bit mortified about how much destruction he caused.
Long winded rant over. Otherwise:
He's always building new weapons! Not always with an exact goal in mind, some are very specific. He'll be hanging on a bungee cord over jelly-poison and say 'aww nuts, I have the perfect laser for this at home!'
His weapons dont really get tested before use. Big difference between him and Eggman. Eggman robots test themselves (the weakest/ failed QC ones are target practise) but Tails just makes a weapon, shoots/ swings it a few times at a pillow, then stashes it. So they can be a bit unpredictable, and often overkill wheras Eggmans usually aim for Just Enough damage for efficiency. Tails makes more efficient plans though.
He is not weak physically compared to the average person. His friends are all just freakishly strong. He'd do pretty well in hand to hand combat against normal people and has great hand eye coordination.
He doesn't love beating something on brawn alone. He'd rather figure out a way to use an enemies skills against them, it makes him feel like he got the mental victory too.
After a hard battle, he has to go home and brush all the grime and bits out his tails. They collect robot junk and gunk. Often get oil and other nasty stuff in his fur too from working so he washes with degreaser.
