mingyu needs some reassurance that your age difference wonât change your love for him
a/n: hey! i hope you enjoy this fic, i certainly enjoyed writing it! i didnât want to make the age gap too wide cause i wasnât too sure on how comfortable i would be writing it, so i hope that something like this is still ok:) thank you for requesting<3
It was supposed to be a quiet night, heâd already gone out to eat lunch with his friends, and theyâd all agreed to have a better celebration over the weekend, when they were all less busy with their schedules. And what was fine by him â he had a lot of studying to do himself, and acing the test he had in a few days would be a far better birthday gift.
What he didnât except was to come home to his dorm already unlocked. He never forgot to lock it, and Jihoon was out in another city working on some side project. He wasnât supposed to be home until this Friday.
Gingerly, Mingyu pushed the door open and let out a small âHello?â into the quiet room. There were no shoes near the front, not a single trace of someoneâs presence, which only pushed his curiosity (and a little bit of nervousness). Maybe someone had come in to clean their dorm earlier? That was a somewhat reasonable explanation, but it also wasnât the best. They werenât supposed to come in without letting him know beforehand. When it was clear he wasnât going to get an answer, he stepped into the room, coming face to face with absolutely no one.Â
Weird.
âHELLO!â
Mingyu let out a loud yelp and threw himself against the wall, shutting his eyes out of fear for his dear life. A familiar sound of laughter filled the room and he opened his eyes in surprise.
âY/n?â
Still giggling, you opened your arms for a hug. âHi there, Mingyu.â
He quickly peeked out into the halls and then slammed the door shut. He couldnât have anyone knowing that you were in his dorm. For all he knew, he might end up getting reported for having another gender in his room and he didnât really need that right now.
Turning his attention back to you, he set his backpack down and engulfed you into a warm hug.
âWhy are you here? How did you get here? How long have you been waiting for me for? Did you have dinner yet? Are you hungry?â He continued rambling off a plethora of questions until you shut him up with a soft kiss.
âStill as cute as ever, I see.â You smiled. âAnd Jeonghan helped me sneak into here.â You added with a wink.
âBut why are you here? Is everything ok?â He repeated his question.
âIâm here âcause itâs your birthday, dummy.â You playfully poked his nose and pulled him over to his bed to take a seat. âHowâs your day been so far?â
Mingyu shrugged. âAs expected, it sucks to have a birthday in the middle of the week, but me and the boys got to go eat out for lunch. That was nice. Theyâre supposedly planning a party for me this weekend to make up for it.â There was a short pause and then he lit up. âOh! Jihoon left me a gift since heâs gone for this week.â He dug around in his backpack before pulling out a dog plushie and presenting it to you.
âHe said it reminded him of me, and I was going to send you a picture of it since itâs pretty cute but now you can see it in person!â He smiled that toothy grin of his and you couldnât help but share his excitement. Taking the small doll into your hands you gushed along with him.
âIt really does look like you, we should name it Mingyu 2.0.â You laughed as you moved its head along with you words. âHi! I am Minigyu 2.0 and I am cuter than Mingyu 1.0, everyone loves me more.â
That elicited a loud âHey!â from him.
âSpeaking of gifts,â You turned around to grab the blue gift bag that sat on his desk. âI have one for you too!â
He hadnât noticed the pile of items laying on his desk when he first walked in, but now his eyes followed the outline of your bag, coat, and... was that a cake? Bringing his attention back to the gift in front of him, he gratefully grabbed it from you and said a small âthank youâ.
In the bag was a little notebook, about the size of his hand, and when he flipped through the pages, he was presented with various photos of you and him together, a few solo shots scattered here and there. His heart warmed at the sight of the photo album.
âI thought Iâd give you some of our memories since Iâll probably be really busy this year with work and wonât be able to see you as much as usual.â You explained, peering over his shoulder to look at the photos with him.
âI love it.â He whispered, still engrossed in all the cute details and little notes you left in the pages. You messages ranged from inside jokes to reasons why you loved him and he almost teared up from all the emotions bubbling within him. âThank you for this, y/n.â
You smiled and put a hand on his chin to turn his head towards yours. For a moment, you got lost in each otherâs gaze as if nothing else around you mattered. Then, you leaned into a gentle kiss, his lips soft and sweet against yours. When you pulled apart, you were both giggling with goofy smiles on your faces.Â
Oh, you were in love with this man.
Breaking the sappy mood, you brought your hands together and took a deep breath. âOk! Cake time, or else the icing will start melting. Whatâs up with your room by the way? Isnât it spring? Why is it so hot in here?â You fanned yourself absentmindedly.
Mingyu simply shrugged and scooted closer to you when you returned with the cake. It was pretty simple, just a typical vanilla cake topped with some strawberriesâa modest cake for a modest party. And he didnât mind that one bit, anything was fine as long as he was by your side.
He watched you quietly with a smile, as you fussed over getting the candles lit and set into place. Even though you were older than him, sometimes it felt like you were the younger one out of the two of you. He just wanted to hold you in his arms forever. When you finally got the candles ready, you gave yourself a small huff of approval and then transferred the cake into Mingyuâs hands. Softly, you began to sing him happy birthday.
Thankfully he joined in with you, making the event less lonely, and he playfully replaced his name with an off key âME!â. The song ended with more laughter from the two of you.
âOk, time to blow out the candles, donât forget to make a wish.â
Never in his life would he forget to make a wish on such a special day. Usually, he would wish for something like happiness, or the well being of those around him, or something that pertained to the events of that year. Just general things, really, anything to fill in the empty space of a wishâhe tended to forget to plan those things out beforehand.
But today, he already knew what he wanted to wish for. He wished that you and him would be together forever. That he would be able to see you smile for the rest of his life. A childish wish, as some may call it, but it was what he wanted nevertheless.
As you watched him blow out the small flames, you didnât miss the flash of sadness in his eyes when he finally opened them again. Though he quickly masked it with a grin in your direction, you werenât going to let it slide.
âIs everything okay?â
The grin faltered.
Usually, it would taken some more prodding on your part to get him to open up about something he was feeling sensitive about, so you were surprised to see him speak up after only a moment of hesitation.
âItâs just... Even though Iâm getting older, that doesnât really change the gap between us.â He muttered. âYouâre already in your last year, going to work and all, while Iâve just barely started my studies.â The room fell quiet and he averted his gaze from you, not daring to see your expression after his confession.
You let out a sigh and rested a hand on his thigh. âMingyu, you know Iâm not going to let that get in between us though, right? And I know that you wonât either.â
âI know... but wouldnât you want to be with someone whoâs actually your age? It feels like you always have to take care of me because Iâm younger, not that I mind it, but it just feels like youâd be better off with someone you can actually spend time with too.â
âNope.â Maybe your response was a bit too quick, but you didnât feel an ounce of hesitation within you. âI wouldnât change a thing. Iâm sorry, I know it might feel like weâre a bit distant because weâre both so busy with our own lives and weâre used to not seeing each other as often. Kinda stupid how our schedules just always clash, but donât ever think that Iâve considered leaving you for someone else just because of that. Youâre my one and only Minigyu and nothingâs gonna change that.â
âYeah.â He gave you a bittersweet smile. âWait... Minigyu?â
âOh please, I know you still like your fair share of babying, so that makes you my Minigyu! I can practically fit you in my pocket.â
To that, he let out a giggle, eyes shutting to cringe at your cheesy reasoning. You both knew that he was popular within the school for his height, contrary to your statement, but he didnât bother to address it.Â
âThereâs that smile I love.â You cooed.
Pulling you onto his chest, he shifted to rest on the headboard of the bed.
âI love you, you know that?â He muttered into your hair, nuzzling into it.
âAnd I love you more.â
âYouâre really going to play that game with me? You know Iâm going to win.â
Tilting your head up to stare into his eyes, you gave him a cheeky grin. âMaybe.â
âWell, then, no. I love you more.â He challenged.
âI love you the most.â
âI love you even more than the most.â
âI love you the most of all.â
âI love you the mostest of the most.â
You two spent the next who-knows-how-long whispering different forms of affirmations to each other. Even though it got a little tiring to figure out just how many âmostsâ you had to add to your next turn, you thought it was all worth it.Â
And Mingyu felt the same way. Cuddling with you was worth it. Spending his birthday quietly with you was worth it. Seeing you smile was worth it. Sure, your age gap may bring some troubles along the way, but heâll just counter that by cherishing the little moments he does have with you even more. Because you were worth it.
He had a wonderful birthday that day.
=====
uhh did the perspective go a little wonk? maybe. idK it felt ok when i wrote it but at the same time i was like,,, is this even allowed,, but i hope it was alright<3
iâll stop rambling now;)
The themes of transgender acceptance and the anxieties that arise from that in public situations are central to One Night, Hot Springs, but the game chooses to address each of these very carefully. While choices are sparse throughout the experience, they always lead back to multiple core points that the player character was thinking on in previous scenes, often with build-up based around a scant handful of lines of dialogue. In doing this, the game is able to very gently escalate the discussion to more serious topics, while also maintaining the subtle and careful tone of the experience overall.Â
So now that school is done and I am fairly bored out of my mind, I am reopening my requests again!
What you can ask for:
I'll do requests for any character I know, or any of mine or your Oc's
what I can do:
I can do traditional doodles or paintings, digitally draw sketches or fully rendered pieces. If you don't specify then chances are it's just gonna be a doodle lol
how long will it take:
depending on the art form and what I'm doing that week it could take anywhere between an hour or so to maybe a few days
rules and restrictions:
I do not do any NSFW art, and if I don't really like the request then I'll let you know, but 99% of the time I'll accept it.
order of response:
I'm literally just doing first-come-first-served. If you send in a request first, then I'll do that one first.
Other:
you're also welcome to just send in suggestions and stuff and I may take it and do that idea. I'm pretty open and lenient with this stuff.
Supply:
If you send in a request for me to do a traditional painting, I generally use pieces of wood when I do that. Right now I still have a decent supply of it, and I get it specially made by my grandfather. If I do happen to run out tho, I can ask for more but It'll be a few days before they are done. I have tons of paper and digital art isn't an issue.
This post will be linked into my Into post for any future reference, and I may occasionally reblog it.
