The smile on his face broadened a touch at her slow acceptance of his casual request, but that hardly mattered, so long as she HAD accepted. He nodded, pushing off from his flimsy perch, rubbing his thumb along his nose like he’d won some sort of marathon and he was due a little recognition. He was of an obvious cheeky state of mind which may or may not have a place there at that particular moment, but when did Harry ever much consider the words that were about to blast out of his mouth. Indeed, often times he wondered if there was anything out there that could stop it from happening if he himself failed!

“Great! So I guess the only question that remains is, are we talking appetizers here, OR---” He gestured toward himself. “--- the whole meal?” He wiggled his brow, “Eh, eh??”

It had been a while, too long, perhaps, since he’d sat and had a proper chat with Karrin. Certainly not since adopting the role of the Winter Knight. He figured it was time to break the ice, so to speak, dip his toes in the water and... reforge the bonds the he’d royally fucked up. 

Naturally, instead of addressing the issues head on, he chose to make an ass of himself.

For as long as i have seen this class armor, i wanted it. Last night, with my static, i hit level 60 Astrologian. In a way, i am slightly sad i wasnt Au Ra when I hit this achievement, but my tiny fierce lala is just too adorable. Learning to heal on Astro has been a real challenge. It plays completely differently than my Scholar heal main. Anyroads, this will be my forever astro glam. Because i love is so. The globe may change, but for now, its my favorite. Next stop 70AST then, ill level my whm. Because i want the mage mastery class title.. 16 - First huge fight

*deep breath* ohboy. Tiny, you’re terrible. But OK. Discussions of the aftermath of Demands of The Qun.

“I’ve had this one dream for a while,” Vyera says in the afterglow of a tumble with Bull. He pokes her in the bottom with one foot and grins when she yelps.

“So tell me about this dream.”

The dwarf rolls over to face him, draws a breath, front teeth skating across her bottom lip as if she’s not quite sure. Then, looking him straight in the eye, she speaks. “You. Me. Breach closed. Coryphyeus super dead. And a little cottage up by the mountains, with a wooden fence and a turnip garden.”

“What.”

“Yeah. Hitched and all, maybe a little family of our own. Whaddya think of that?”

“I, uh. I think that’s not gonna happen, boss.”

The luster in her eye goes brittle. Vyera closes her mouth and her lips go thin. “S’why they’re called dreams. You asked.”

And you brought it up, Bull thinks, but that would be even more counter-productive in a moment like this. “Really? That’s the best you can do?” He very rarely guesses wrong at what to say - unfortunately, this is one of those very rare times, and his casual tone rubs backward against her bruised heart.

Vyera flicks him in the chest with the back of her hand. “Now, why would I go and make that up, just so you could laugh at me?”

“Boss, I’m not laughing–”

“Not out loud, you’re not.” She snorts. “I know your kind don’t get married or have families and all of that–but the rest of us, we do.”

“I’m not ‘one of them’ anymore.” His eyes go narrow. “You made pretty sure of that.”

Her face flushes. “Then maybe don’t leave the fate of your men on my shoulders, next time! The least I could do was look out for the little people!”

“Those folks on the dreadnought weren’t little enough for you?” 

“Andraste’s tits!” She rubs her hands over her face. “I didn’t know them! The Chargers, I did! Would you have preferred I let ‘em get chopped up by the Vints? And–Qunari or not, you said you’d have my back. I distinctly remember saying the same to you!”

“I’ve got your back all right, Red.” There’s a snarl edging into his words despite his best efforts. “I’m just not the marrying kind, and I never will be.”

“No, you’re just plain afraid!” she snaps. “You’re all shaft and no balls, and you’re too scared to think maybe this one good–” Her voice cracks. “Maybe consider that some things aren’t tests, or puzzles, or just plain lies! Maybe think about how, when I say I’m here for the long haul, I’m being dead fucking serious about it!”

Bull stares at her staring back at him, furious. Somehow both of them are not sitting up glaring at each other. He can hear the blood pounding in his skull. His nails are meeting through a fistful of bedspread. “Now look–”

Vyera turns away, stealing most of the covers with her. “I don’t wanna hear it. I thought maybe…you’d want it too. Even a little. Just a little woulda been fine.”

“Boss–”

She shakes her head fiercely and tears the covers off, stepping into the light of the rising sun with not a stitch on. The floor feels as cold as the Frostbacks under her soles. “There. I’m out of bed. We’re officially done, and now I’m in charge here. Get out.”

Without another word, Bull gets dressed and leaves. The chilly silence is broken only by the rustle of his trousers, the clank of his belt buckle. And when the door slides shut, the Inquisitor curls back up in the covers and tries not to scream.
