19. Share your favorite piece of dialogue ONE piece of dialogue from the whole year???? Listen I was going through In Search of Something More for this one, trying to find something sweet and romantic, and landed on a Sirius line, believe it or not.
Vernon's just had his ass handed to himself (courtesy of James) in front of a group of people he's been trying to get cozy with, and to move the conversation along, Sirius chimes in in the most Sirius way—harmless on the surface but also incredibly condescending if you know him. You know what? Have a little set-up as a treat:
He lets the reproach hang in the air between the men and cannot pretend he doesn’t take pleasure in the way Dursley’s face reddens as the accusation washes over him. Nott and Aubrey clear their throats awkwardly, eyes shifting between the two men before James turns his head to Sirius as an indication to revive the conversation. Unlike the other men, Sirius clears his throat with the fanfare of someone who demands the attention of the group. Once given, he gestures at a rather sour-faced Dursley. “Now go on, Mr. Dursley, tell us more about your tool-making.”
