This isn't just another sweet chili sauce; it's a story of generosity, gratitude, and nature's goodness. It all started with a dream of going self-sufficient and reducing our food miles. Our kids love sweet chili sauce with their chicken and eggplant. There's thisn mported brand that they love and it's really good. It even says "authentic" on the label 😄 One bottle flew several hundred miles to get to our table, only to be devoured in less than a week. So I thought, instead of buying from the mall, I thought I'd make our own using home-grown ingredients. I love how these Asian neighbors make their chili sauce, but if we can develop our own authentic family recipe using ingredients that grow in the backyard, it would be good for our family and for the environment as well. Most recipes call for rice vinegar, but we don't have that here. We do have a neighbor who makes coconut vinegar and gives a bottle every time he harvests. We don't have sambal oelek, but the birds plant bird's eye chili peppers for us. In exchange, we give the neighbors fruits from our garden and we plant trees for the birds. Now the #tinywhitehouse will always have sweet chili sauce in the pantry 😊 Thank God for generous neighbors 🙏❤️😇 #growyourownfood #homegrown #homegrownfood #gratitude #attitudeofgratitude #homeandgarden #happyhomemaker #sobermom #recoverywarrior https://www.instagram.com/p/CBaBVrZD9GY/?igshid=hpupeti4qxp4
