Ugh..going into what i think is my 5th rehearsal... We (my dancers and I) have so much movement. We have been making and making, creating and creating, devicing and devicing movement to where there is so much, it is time to piece it all together! Ugh. This part for me for some reason is the hardest this semester. I like to work from point A (the beginning) to Point B (the end?) But I'm having trouble finding a start. I'm even having trouble making the middle and i have no clue about the end. I mean, I have a basic idea in my HEAD, but everything looks cooler inside your head...keeping the cool-esque of it is the tricky part. I'm just not sure of where to start...I have some what of a beginning right now...but i'm not satisfied. I already have another idea to test in rehearsal today. I just dont want to spend all rehearsal time on it. So i'm planning to throw some ideas out there, piece together different floor patterns, different phrases and sections to some how complete 2-3 minutes of my dance, then go back and edit. I work best that way i feel. maybe. i like to edit. I just need to make sure i dont edit too much haha.
My dance is about finding out who i am as a mover. But it starts with 4 different people/dancers moving their way. They eventually morph/transforms into me, (translation, they perform my material "as is" No interpretation what so ever. Ironically during the mini session, i discovered that i don't really like "as is" movement, and would much rather move my way or, yes, interpret. So coaching my dancers to move "as is" will hopefully not be too bad...hehe :) but, they're awesome dancers, so i know they can do it!) So, summing up. 4 dancers who are individuals...they come to realize they are "confused/ not sure of who they are" and morph into one being moving one way.
I hope that isn't too confusing. here are some possible titles:
They are who I am (i like this one)
