in addition to my last post, ive been on this train of thought about how whitewashed everything in america is. like, even the white people are whitewashed and progressively whitewashing ourselves more and more. nobody cares to learn the history of the things they do, buy, or hear because the history is so goddamn whitewashed its insane. Part of this little brain train has been due to how much of an increase ive seen in both 1) people converting to pagan faiths and 2) people going down nationalist red-pilled pipelines. young people in america are so desperate to find culture and community and will often end up going down either the left wing or right wing version of this desperation spiral to find it! our ancestors came to america, leaving everything behind and starting fresh, leaving only fragments of oral traditions for their children. people will convert to paganism in pursuit of finding SOMETHING spiritual to connect to that isn't the bastardized version of christianity we have today (and in that pursuit, accidentally bastardize the religions and practices they want to connect to). people will go down red-pilled pipelines because instead of feeling sad about the culture they've lost, they feel attacked at the accusation that they have "no culture," so they turn to nationalism. when being "american" is your only solid identity, it becomes so easy for people to fall for nationalist agendas. this is ALSO the main reason behind the annoying american habit of stating one's ancestry in percentages. yeah, i'll say im 50% polish because that's the only connection to any sort of family history and culture that i have! no i have never been to poland, and i can speak polish at the level of a toddler on a good day, but what few traditions my family upholds stem from my polish immigrant family. so yeah, when I live in a country built on the substitution of culture for economic gain, i'll cling to that tradition like a fuckin lifeline. people say "white people have no culture" but really its that american culture is built on the abandonment of one's one culture in pursuit of some "better life," which ends up being just whitewashing the self for the sake of social palatability.
I could write a whole essay with my thoughts on this shit
