Found this nifty document on Battle Ballad to Ex 6 changes and decided to do commentary on it. Due to the sheer amount of images I’ve made commentary on this’ll have a Part 2 due to the single post image limit being hit.

Aaaah so we get the Covenant not being active anymore to happen with Grimm around instead of it just being some private convo between Miklotov & Wilhelm? That’s neat.
Not many changes, though I do find the bit on Clind tracking the shinobi down to show he’s not only good at fighting but also tracking noteworthy even if the shinobi were obviously pretty shitty quality.
Interesting. This does check out with how Wilhelm upon devoting himself to Theresia was clearly moving away from the Observers.
Heeeeeeh?? Why the heck is Stride’s Authority of Pride literally making such a BLATANT religious connection. That is saddling more evidence on how Religion is bad in this narrative. Regarding what he calls the other fingers, interesting they correspond to gemstones it seems.
Stride has a conversation meteor?? Oh wow, that helps tie in his connection to Petelgeuse waaay earlier in a neat way. Melinda also seems to have Evil Eye’d Wilhelm without even being present this implies which is pretty crazy.
Yup, confirmation that Melinda did Evil Eye Wilhelm in such a way. No wonder the Volakians be genocided the tribe if they can basically screw around a persons mental state by merely making eye contact no matter the distance.
Love this bit of bonding between Carol & Julia.
Ooooh. Really like how this change emphasizes Valga’s words that even if he fell, the Demi-Human’s hatred would still burn on.
Also really like this change. Getting Theresia to face someone like Cragrell who is the epitome of the group she did a mass slaughter upon is a great thing.
Nice scene of Veltol & Wilhelm bonding actually. Getting Veltol to say here that his desire for fatherhood despite his unusual nature as an Astrea is for the sake of happiness is something I find rather nice.
Neat lore on this “safeguarding chamber” which houses the Dragon Tablet typically. The strictness on who has access to the chamber makes me wonder how Leip’s scrawny ass got ahold of such access even after the shit he pulled this Trilogy.
So Miasma is emitting from Shamrock Valley? That’s a neat change.
Curious Roswaal seems to know let that much about Shaula. It’s also pretty wild she & Wilhelm speculate the Royal Family & Shaula actively communicate which I heavily doubt.
The mention of considering stuff like the Dragon Tablet as “amulets” of the Dragon is interesting given we have Stride adorned with an item of jewelry using it as a medium for an Authority.
Stride broke into the Royal Palace??? Holy. That’s impressive as hell, even if he had Carol’s assistance in doing so.
Tishua’s actively implied to be majorly suicidal it seems oh shiiiit. Damn. Wonderful change.
No effort to locate people with DP’s for the Valgren sacrifice? Intriguing.
Yuuup. More Sphinx & Stride connections. I did muse they might’ve had some kinda connection back during the War so this adds to that. I do like Stride’s view of the Dead here in regards to an expansion on his morals. That line on reason Stride has feels like it’d have been such an excellent scene to see.
Good to see Stride still loathes people with DP’s despite not sacrificing any of them in the Novel version.
So DP’s still get stripped. Interesting. I like to see how aggrieved demi-humans are tied into what they believe Strides objectives to be.
There’s a “forbidden technique” which can create a blindspot in Od Lagna, and it was the legacy of Sphinx apparently? Oh yeah, strong implication then that Echidna created this technique to fuck around with Od Lagna back in the day.
I wonder if Roswaal knows this technique because it’s a way the clown thinks they can bring back Echidna without being punished by the construct.
Aahaaaaa ..so I was right something was wrong with Valgren and it’s because Valgren is apparently this thing called a “dragonhusk” which is an “empty shell” apparently. I wonder if Volcanica in modern times is a dragonhusk, hence the lack of assistance to the Royals during Ex 1.
Oh? Is “gazer” the term then for people who communicate with Observers and apparently receive “heavenly decree” from them?
Good grief. Stride preaching the Volakian way indeed. Do find it interesting how Stride seems to believe he himself lacks rights due to his own weakness. Atleast he is consistent on applying the Volakian ideal of strength to everybody including himself.
The Petelgeuse & Stride connection with the “criminal” remarks is cut? Lameeeee!
Aha. Lovely to see the comment of Strides on Roswaal’s eye thingy is kept even if the dialogue has shifted slightly. This seems to imply to me that Stride views Roswaal as someone who is against the Observers aswell.
Huuuuh??! Why the hell is Melinda connected to Pride and Vainglory?! Is she like- an Apostle for both those Sins? Waaaait, is this implying Stride has a connection with Pandora then if someone in service to him might be an Apostle of Vainglory? What the actual fuck is this Tappei.
Hm, yeah. Do dislike this change of Strides on the way he doesn’t seem as invested in Grimm from a personal standpoint since Stride viewed him as someone who can defy fate.
Mmh. Yeah, don’t like this change either. I think Julia sacrificing herself for Carol instead of Carol & Grimm mutually is more thematically resonant given how Julia was close with Carol.
Sooooo. Your telling me Evil Eyes is associated with the word commandement which is associated with Pride and the Evil Eyes was associated with both Vainglory and Pride? Definitely adds more to me thinking Melinda was an Apostle of Pride.
