Glowworm walks for the legio! an impetuous war machine that likes to try and use its overheated plasma cannons melee weapons and bodily running into her foe, much to the chagrin of both her enginseers and the rest of the legio
and here's a little bunker on the base for the next warhound im gonna paint
Some asshat scratched my car door, paused long enough to check if it was really scratched and not just dirt and vanished. I just saw the aftermath. Fuck that person with a cactus.
So I did some painting repairs, but with a 12 year old car "original VW Candy White" isn't really blending in, so it's now safe to not rust, but doesn't look too pretty.
So I made myself a Collegia Titanica-sticker to put over the area. Because nothing says "Warhound Titan" like one of the smallest cars available! (to Americans my car must seem like one of those lawnmowers you can sit on and drive around)

Just Because You Can, Doesn't Mean You Should
A Warlord titan, two Reavers, and two Warhounds is marketed as something of an all-around standard type of force in Titanicus. Unfortunately, at the standard-medium-to-large-game size of 1500 points, you can only fit them all in by compromising (badly!) on weapon selection, which I did, and suffered badly for.
The game actually started well with some decent shooting turn one. The other player's faction, Legio Fureans, revolves around a very hefty second turn alpha strike, where each titan gets to fire a weapon twice at the cost of reactor heat. His rolls throughout turn one were atrocious, and I was worrying it was going to be a repeat of our previous two games (luck-induced slaughter). His shooting blitz started poorly, then very suddenly turned around, leaving my one warhound crippled, warlord's shields out, and a reaver dead.
My rolls went from bad to worse from that point on: failing to reignite Warlord shields, reaver trying to boost move away from a lancer charge and getting Machine Spirit activation instead, getting hacked to bits, then falling on one of my warhounds. I was one head hit short of killing his melee reaver, the other was battered, as was a warhound. So a bit of a better list would've let me turn things around even towards the end.
List building is the main takeaway: fielding a warlord means you need it to win you the game. The medium range Sunfury/Macro Gatling/Gatling Blasters version is *very very good* at killing an unshielded titan, so downgrading another titan to knights to get better weapons is likely the best move here. I also have some idea how to counter the alpha strike; combine shields and pray for the best isn't cutting it.
Titanicus is a fun system to learn - the damage system makes list building very interesting. And the models are lovely to look at (if agonizing to paint). Getting my third warhound and second warlord done will be nice. The result, that is, not the process.
EDIT: Oh and there were some guys playing Battletech at the table next to us; funny seeing people playing another, smaller scale, mech game. And also the "they were playing when we arrived, and playing when we left" classic.
