Clouds filled the sky and blocked the sun over Skull Island. Ruined forestry and debris were littered about parts of the jungle. The night before today, a hurricane recently traveled past the island, picking up and launching what wasn’t deeply-rooted into the land and even knocking over some of the giant trees. On this day, Nancy Archer the 50 ft. woman and Kong, king of the island lifted the final broken log of wood from their cave, dropping it down below into the pile.
“Alright, I think that’s all that was in there.” Nancy clapped and wiped the dust from her hands, looking out to the other areas the storm damaged. Oof... That got pretty nasty last night. I hope the villagers are alright. I suppose they’ve been here for much longer than I have so they probably know how to handle themselves, but still... Nancy thought to herself before noticing a disgusting odor.
“Oh- Eugh, God...Kong, have you been building up body odor again?” The giant gorilla responds with somewhat hurt panting followed by an accusatory grunt. “Hey hey, that happened one time and how was I supposed to know the long-necks were using that pond as a john? If anything, I blame you for letting it happen. But seriously, if it’s not me and it’s not you, then what the hell is that.” Nancy begrudgingly took another whiff to better determine the cause of the stench.
Ah, something died, she thought. Must a casualty of the storm. Damn, that could’ve been free game. It might be nearby. Nancy began to climb down to the jungle with Kong not too far behind and followed the smell further in. As she got closer to the source, the smell got stronger and Kong decided he would rather not go any further. “Sitting this one out? Fair enough. I’ll be back.” Nancy plugged her nose as she pressed on the find the source, spear in hand.
Finally, she came across a pool of blood at her, almost stepping in it and looked up to see half of a vastosaurus corpse rotting and full of flies. It’d been there for a good while now, it looked like. Jesus, that’s ripe! It looks like it was...snipped in half. Not a clean cut, but a cut nonetheless? As she examined the carcas half, she noticed another body not too far from it. Another one? She approached the next body and saw three other dinosaur remains trailing out into the fields and started to wonder if following a trail of bodies was such a good idea. Then again, is it ever?
Nancy walked out of the trees and out into the clearing to be met with the sight of dead and dismembered animals of skull island and splotches of burnt land and trees. Nancy closed her eyes and sighed, scratching the back of her head.
...Aw hell. Another “visitor.” That’s just what we fucking need right now.
