So all of Sherlock's friends are taking turns to keep an eye on Sherlock.. and John spends his weekends with Rosie..so Molly was supposed to come over.. I assume it was evening..(?) Sooo.. Molly had plans of spending the night at 221b?

Sherlock was prepared to spend his birthday with Molly only themselves！

Sherlock’s birthday was supposed to be only him and Molly themslves! Sherlock was not going to tell John today’s his birthday, only to get caught by John accidently because of Irene’s text alert and therefore, birthday exposed.   Similarly, if Mrs Hudson knew about his birthday  she must have volunteered to be the hostess of the birthday party(or at least be a part of it) . However neither John nor Mrs Hudson was in the plan.

That’s probably what’d happened——

Molly knew that day was Sherlock’s birthday and said to him she’s going to throw him a birthday party,  Sherlock agreed and he didn’t tell anyone(including John, Mrs Hudson and Lestrade). He was prepared to spend his birthday with Molly together(only themselves), but sadly, all things went wrong and John discovered that. So Sherlock had to take him with them(sad). 

And I believe it’s Sherlock who told Molly about his birthday(smile), and even John never knew when it is .

I think “I text her” is meant for Molly instead of Irene

I am so surprised that everyone thinks it's meant for Irene when Sherlock said “even I text her.I mean…women.”

But before that when questioned by John about Irene Sherlock did say “For god’s sake I don’t text her back!” and I don’t think he’s lying. What’s the good in  lying about contacting with Irene? He’d been so evasive at first just because he’s afraid John would found out he lied one more thing that he saved Irene at the end of ASiB.

So I think that “her” is probably meant for Molly, maybe other women, but since there’s not so many women entangled with Sherlock so…

Also I think  John’s whole speech about “take the chance” is, to a great degree, out of his regret not cherishing Mary when she’s alive and finally he lost her forever, which he would feel pained for whole life. Apart from that, I also regard it a good hint for Sherlock to rethink what Molly really means to him rather than Irene. Actually I think Adlock endgame is more likely to violate Conan’s original than Sherlolly since the ending of their interaction has been written explicitly in the books while Molly is a whole new character with whom there's a lot more free room to develop.
