it's hard being a polyamorous action hero because whenever i have flashbacks to all my dead wives it takes like 20 minutes to get through all of it
first rule of fandom is everything goes back to destiel
second rule of fandom is everything goes back to kirk/spock
third rule of fandom is everything goes back to holmes & watson
fourth rule of fandom is everything goes back to achilles & patroclus
the funny thing is. I originally typed out "fifth rule of fandom is everything goes back to gilgamesh & enkidu" but then I thought 'no, I can't trust that people will be familiar with the epic of gilgamesh'
I should have known. nerd ass website.
Alan Turing basically won WWII for the allies, and they still chemically castrated him for being gay. Respectability politics don't fucking work. Stop throwing other queer people under the bus just because you think maybe then the allocishets will lighten up off the gas long enough for you to escape. We are all tarmac.
hey do you guys remember when the bbc sherlock fandom was so mad that there wasn't a sebastian moran that we all just collectively. put him in. and we all collectively decided that he was michael fassbender. and we as a whole wrote 6,167 fics about him on ao3 alone. that's actually so fucking funny if you think about it. do you think michael fassbender knows

the best thing about tumblr is that you can watch a show and then you come here and someone has made a gifset of it and you can put it on your blog like a sticker in a journal
basically if you're ever telling any trans person they need to shut up and that they're taking up too much space talking about their own gendered experience I do need you to remember that cis people exist in this world who never ever have to compete for this kind of discussion space. their existence & experience is taken for granted. no trans person can ever take up too much space, no trans person will ever be too loud, as long as cisgenderism is still considered the norm. we do not need fewer of any type of trans person - we need more of all of us, everywhere, & we need more willingness to listen. more voices makes for a more solid foundation of experience. more hands for lighter work.

So I watched a video essay a while back about how "forgiveness" is often seen as intrinsic to stories about indigenous people. You get the scene in the show/movie where the indigenous person looks down at their burning village, takes a deep breath, then basically turns to the camera and says "I'm upset about this, but I realize that violence is never the answer. I must forgive the people who killed my entire family and want to exterminate me otherwise how am I any better than them???" and then the music swells and most of the (white) audience members all nod their heads in agreement and then presumably go on Twitter to complain about how throwing a shoe at a fascist is "going too far" or whatever the fuck.
Shoutout to OFMD for having a scene where an indigenous man chokes a British colonizer to death and then the indigenous man fights his way back to his femme gay boyfriend killing several more British colonizers in the process.
