What happened to Ellie after part 2?

She went back to Jackson, and after some time and healing, got back with Dina

I don’t think Ellie rejoined Jackson, at least not for any significant amounts of time. All her ties to the community (that are shown) are dead or drastically different. Aside from Maria, I guess. Like in her journal, even if she found peace, she’d be ashamed of herself, and being in Jackson wouldn’t help.

I also think she didn’t (and shouldn’t) get back together with Dina. I love them together, but I love it for the tragedy, and I’d like to see the consequences stick.

My idea of post epilogue Ellie is mostly formed by an AO3 fic ‘the Apple doesn’t fall far,’ or something similarly named. It’s where Ellie stays in the region, traveling around but living in solitude mostly. She trades with Jackson and talks with Maria occasionally, and eventually meets a 16 year old JJ when he’s on patrol. It’s a great fic.

I would want to see Ellie in a parental role. Firstly because of how it would bring her back to Joel, and secondly because of the fact that she was an actual parent. She raised JJ for at least a year, and while her PTSD stopped her from fully connecting, she was a pretty good mom. Becoming a parental figure would be a nice redemption after she abandoned Dina and JJ, but it’s also something we’ve seen in the series a lot, so I wouldn’t be mad if it wasn’t part of a future story.

Questions about The Last Of Us ending (spoilers)

So I finally beat TLOU today. Let me say, this game is absolutely freaking amazing. I have loved every second of playing this game and riding the emotional roller-coaster it puts you on. With that said, I have a few things about the ending that irk me. 

1. Was Joel really doing the right thing for Ellie? At first thought, yeah, he did because he saved Ellie from dying, but if you really think about it, did he save Ellie from dying? or did he save himself for dying? By this point in the story Joel has nearly the same emotional connection to Ellie as he does his daughter, even calling her his "baby girl". Naturally, he already lost Sarah, he's not equipped to lose another person close to him.  2. Is Joel being selfish? Like I literally just said, Joel isn't going to be able to make it through losing his kid again. I say his kid because by this point Ellie is essentially his daughter. Here she is with the cure to stop people from turning, yet he "rescues" her from it. He even lies to her trying to calm her survivors guilt. 3. Is Ellie a surrogate for Joel's daughter? When you look at their relationship from this point, Joel shows the same emotional connection to Ellie as he does his own daughter in the beginning of the game. Ellie has also shown to have a deep emotional connection with Joel as well as evidenced by the whole winter resort scenario. At this point, Joel has "adopted" Ellie and even expresses spending father-daughter quality time with her. Could Joel be using this as a second chance.

4. Does Ellie really know Joel lied to her? This one really relates to the very ambiguous ending. When Ellie asks for clarification, you can tell that she's skeptical. Even when Joel says he swears, she can pick up on the hesitation. Her facial expressions and they way she says "okay" makes it seem as if she is able to tell that he wiped out the Fireflies.

I personally feel that when Joel "rescued" Ellie from having the surgery he was doing it on more (in the moment) personal goals. He already lost Sarah, he sure as hell isn't going to lose Ellie. That said, did he really make the right choice? Ellie had obviously expressed wanting to help them find a cure. What about Ellie's mother? What would her mother have done?  I'm curious where this will take us. We know we're getting a story mode DLC. While signs are pointing it to take place during that 20 year jump, I personally would like to have a DLC that takes place after the ending to see how Joel and Ellie cope with the obvious bump in their relationship.
