first statement about victims with a smoking habit, second statement set in bournemouth, third statement on the topic of witnessing a thing eating someone you knew, fourth statement about books you can't stop reading and the first mention of the library of jurgen leitner—like do i have to say it. love how incredibly, precisely targeted every single one of these is towards jon's own trauma. he was NOT doing well, every single end note in which he tries to tear the internal logic of the statement to shreds, reads as desperately passive agressive on a re-listen because the statements being unsettling is one thing, but these are all designed to unnerve him specifically! was it the web? or, elias must've had some control over what statements jon was allowed access to pre-S4, right, because he can't have jon knowing something he's not supposed to, not yet. did he arrange for him to find them like that? he didn't need to plan a web mark for jon but he never lets jon forget about a guest for mr spider... like, the way he talks about it in 160 ("but my god when you came to me already marked by the web i knew it had to be you" / "hoped that you were sent as some sort of implicit blessing on the whole project") —for elias it's all about him. something awful happened to you and then you were sent to me. you were made for me. and we mustn't forget our roots, jon. DELICIOUS i love it.

I’ve rambled about what Fears I think the Dispatch cast would be avatars and victims of in this post, but I rambled further about Flambae on discord, so here’s that.

Hopefully this is seen by the small crowd of people that make up the intersection of the Venn diagram between The Magnus Archives fandom and the Dispatch fandom.

Thinking about Martin sleeping in the storage cot for the first time and being SO distracted by the fact that Jon has slept in the cot previously, only for him to eventually calm down and realise it's super uncomfortable, the room is dusty, the shadows are looming and if he went to the toilet at night and accidentally knocked a shelving unit onto himself nobody would know for hours

And he maybe realises just how lonely and vulnerable Jon is

Speaking of choices and agency in TMA, I love me an open ending because it is literally a door to whatever I choose to imagine. And what each member of the audience imagines says so much about us, how we perceive ourselves, and what we choose to believe about others. And personally I find that very fun.

when my friend told me "jonathan sims is biromantic asexual" to convince me to listen to the magnus archives podcast, what i thought he meant was:

jonathan sims doesnt have an established relationship through most of the content, the relationship(s) he would have last less than half the content

jonathan sims has multiple conversations with multiple people of different genders, and some of these conversations can be seen as flirty, but it is probably not adressed so it would be just a headcanon

jonathan sims doesnt has sex that he mentions in canon, nor does he mention wanting to have sex with someone

jonathan sims is most probably too busy with the supernatural stuff to even worry about having sex

when my friend told me "jonathan sims is biromantic asexual" what i thought he meant was "this character leaves you an opportunity to place your headcanons onto him without having to go directly against canon content" because THATS what im used to . because there was no way the protagonist was biromantic asexual, there was just no way– and yet

i love jonathan sims being canonically biromantic asexual and i love it even more because i never thought i could get a character like him

so, i don’t remember what q & a this came from, but at one point alex pointed out that cassette tapes are a mono medium, and that the tapes in magnus are in stereo, partially a nod to the fact that there’s something more to the tapes than what they seem and, i mean, fuller sound is always better.

after the world turns back, the audio we hear is in mono - i’m pretty sure. and i’m just. i’m fuckin shook by the sheer attention to detail the folks working on this podcast have.

and, above all else, the tapes are just tapes now.
