Heres where im gonna yap about my reasoning behind the powers and just general notes about how i made this

So first, i originally wanted to replicate the dispatch art style, but it was very difficult for me, so what i got was like a mix of my style and some dispatch style elements (such as the shading)

In terms of outfits/design, John stayed the same, and Arthur stayed mainly the same except i gave him a cool trench coat with a design on the left sleeve

Hero name, Dies Irae: I got this name directly from Malevolent. In part 42, Yorick calls Arthur and John “the Dies Irae”, which is a latin hymn for the dead. I thought it worked nicely for them :) so boom hero name done

Abilities

Some of these are canon abilities, some are just ones i thought would be cool

Projection of the Entity - i imagine that John would just be listed as an entity or John in the hero files, and well projecting him is something the two of them can just do in canon so it felt like a given 😭😭 lets just say for the sake of it that arthur can project him for longer and john has more physical power when projected

Telepathy - inspired by the fact that john talks to arthur through his mind, maybe in this universe john can project his voice into others minds as well? Idk i just thought it would be fun

Persuasion - john and arthur are both quite persuasive (i.e., arthurs interrogation of oscar, arthur managing to get into various places and persuade people to help, a lot of johns earlier actions show him being persuasive, and john persuading the witch into death)

Combat training - this ones a no brainer arthur can fight and john can use his arm and arthurs eyes to call the shots

Entity control of eyes and left arm - this one doesn’t need an explanation its just explicit canon

Investigative capabilities - another one with no need for an explanation, arthur’s a pi and john has gained some investigative skills over the course of the series

Visions - this is referring to the visions they get whenever they come in contact with a body, you know seeing how the person died, thats what this ability is

Dispatch crossover.

The Robertsons are a big time tech group, but to the underbelly, they’re big time crime bosses, transporting illegal goods, making robots to assassinate people in power, and having micro drones for unmasking people to gain favor.

Robert “Bobby” Robertson (the first) was on the run from other places and bunkered in Gothem, having a son, Robert “Robbie” Robertson II and Bobby both made the MechaMan suit, and used it to gather power.

Robbie had died in a gunfight between the cops and a Robertson transport crew, (Shroud is a corrupt cop here)

Robert Robertson III (hubby) had fell in love with reader before the Waynes adopted them, (after the coma and before the final showdown) and is the biggest “you tell my partner anything about anything, and I’ll break your face” kinda guy

I just saw a Matchablossom edit on TikTok, and it got me thinking of a Mechabae sk8 AU.

Flambae would definitely go all in on the fire aesthetic. Flambae would be his stage name of course.

Robert would have his own version of Carla in lieu of the mech. Hell, with the ridiculousness of Sk8 sometimes, it wouldn’t be far fetched for Mecha Man to be a generational skating thing.

Or there’s still heroes, and Robert is still Mecha Man and just happened to get into the S scene as a side hobby. It’d be interesting if he and Flambae had a Matchablossom-style rivalry on the track. Assuming that Robert uses a different alias than Mecha Man, this could add another secret identity to the mix. It also adds extra drama when taking into account the arrest.

Post-game, Flambae knows both of Robert’s identities, and he challenges Robert as a way to get his revenge. He hadn’t been back on the track since his arrest, and Robert had disappeared from the races soon after in order to focus more on his hero work.Both Flambae (he doesn’t bother using a different stage name than his hero name) and Robert (his alias could be something related to the color blue) make their comeback to the S scene together, and their fans go crazy over their return.

They also go crazy over their renewed rivalry, laced with a new kind of tension that wasn’t there before, or at least wasn’t as obvious.

I’m likely never going to write anything based on this, but I definitely want to draw out their skating outfits.

Something tells me that Flambae’s outfit wouldn’t be much different than Joe’s LMAO.

Another thing I’d like to add on: Flambae cooking for Robert after races, before and after he knew his identity, like Joe does for Cherry.

Everyone's posting what heroes they think would get along/work well with Robert or the rest of the Dispatch characters and let me say y'all should seriously consider Virgil Hawkins

Like, the kid's a good person, an incredibly competent hero (especially at his age), cares a lot for people and his community, tries to and has rehabilitated/helped a lot of the villains he's come across, and is incredibly smart and witty.

Like, for Robert he has to deal with the Z-Team 24/7 and while he does love them working with a bunch of chaotic assholes will tire you out eventually and Static would be such a fresh breath of air from that.

I can just imagine Robert dispatching him to a call and being prepared for him to bitch and moan or outright refuse to go only for him to be like, "yeah okay!" and have it done like, 10 minutes later and being like, "ik im young and all but u don't gotta send me on such easy missions, i can handle myself" meanwhile it was a mission the Z-Teamers def could've or would've fucked up.

And even if he wasn't outperforming the Z-Team they'd still get along anyways since they're both witty, tech-savvy and STEM smart, and have a lot of similar goals and morals as heroes.

I think Robert would be really proud of/admire Virgil for being willing to give his villains a second chance and being able to see that they're largely victims of their circumstances and that even though it doesn't justify their actions there are plenty of heroes--who are both older and with more experience in the field--who wouldn't be as forgiving

Something they would also be able to bond over is the fact that they started their superhero careers while in their teens and while mourning the loss of a parent. Where Robert fucked up in his grieving and engaged in a lot of self destructive behaviors and pushed people away, he'd be able to guide Virgil through his grief and make sure he doesn't do the same.

One more thing they can bond over: Cocky, fire-powered enemies. Whose asses they handed to them. (Flambae vs Hotstreak when?)

As for the other characters, I think Virgil and Royd would get along well due to the whole nerdy STEM thing. I think Virgil would be able to keep up with Royd better than Robert in some science areas while also falling behind in other areas (he's more lab than garage I think).

Chase would see both himself and Robert in the kid and would be happy there's no major drawbacks to his powers like there is to Chase and that the kid has a supportive family and home life, unlike Robert. He's also incredibly glad that Virgil's not an asshole like the rest of the Z-Team, he doesn't think he could handle another one.

As for the Z-Team...

They're not huge assholes to him, half because he's a kid and they have some class and also because Virgil is just someone who's easy to get along with. It is the Z-Team though so they're still assholes, especially because his hero attitude and jokes remind them of their dispatcher, and they're delighted to learn the kid can keep up with them verbally just as Robert can.

Something else about him they really appreciate even though they wouldn't say it out loud is his attitude towards villains. They're so used to people seeing them as nothing more than the evil they could and have caused that it's refreshing to not just have another person but another hero look at them and know they can be more than their pasts. They'd all rather die than admit that though, so bickering and banter it is.

I think him and Golem would get along well due to being the youngest members on the Z-Team, even though Golem's not treated any differently because of it (age for a construct works/feels differently than how most people and humans age)

I don't have any specific ideas in mind for how he'd interact with Waterboy or Phenomaman other than saying he has the most patience with them because he understands Waterboy's fears and anxieties as a first-time hero and as someone whose power majorly inconveniences him and because he knows Phenomaman isn't used to living like how humans do and isn't in the healthiest headspace (a breakup is one thing, a breakup where your ex was the only thing you cared about is another)

The Z-Team if they were part of Civil War:

1) Mecha Man - Team Iron Man (Iron Man jokes aside, I feel like Robert would still team up with Tony since he had to deal with Shroud. He knows the danger of supervillains gaining access to his tech, so I can see him being swayed by the argument that superheroes need oversight to prevent that from happening. Plus, he literally is government oversight, that’s what SDN is)

2) Invisigal - Team Iron Man (sides with Robert. Also, she might not be too fond of Steve Rogers’ holier-than-thou attitude. There’s also the fact that she KNOWS the danger of superpowered people running amok with their powers because she’s been in that position)

3) Flambae - Team Captain America (goes on the team opposite of Robert on principle. Also, it’s not like he enjoyed working with SDN in the first place, especially since he would start fires on his own just to move up on the leaderboard)

4) Golem - Team Captain America (for dramatic purposes, he has to be against Invisigal, putting him on Cap’s side)

5) Prism - Team Iron Man (for dramatic purposes, she has to be against Flambae, putting her on Tony’s side. Plus, it’s clear she respects Robert since she called Mecha Man a “real hero”)

6) Punch Up - Team Captain America (he didn’t want to work for SDN in the first place)

7) Coupe - Team Iron Man (for dramatic purposes, she has to be against Punch Up, putting her on Tony’s side. Also, if you cut her from the team, she makes it clear that she didn’t want to leave SDN)

8) Sonar - Team Iron Man (using the logic I had for Coupe, Sonar made it clear he didn’t want to leave SDN. Also, I’m sure Sonar would get along with someone like Tony Stark)

9) Malevola - Team Captain America (for dramatic purposes, she has to be against Sonar, putting her on Cap’s side.)

10) Phenomaman - Team Captain America (he’s the Dispatch universe’s version of Superman, thus making him close to Steve Rogers in terms of ideals/personality)

11) Waterboy - Team Captain America (if you recruited Waterboy, he throws water on Flambae if you chose to reveal Robert’s identity to the team. So he’s got that Steve Rogers, “stand up to bullies even if you don’t stand a chance” vibe going for him)

12) Blonde Blazer - Team Iron Man (sides with Robert, also she is the actual lead figurehead of SDN/superhero oversight)

Overall tally:

Team Iron Man - Mecha Man, Invisigal, Prism, Coupe, Sonar, Blonde Blazer

Team Captain America - Flambae, Golem, Punch Up, Malevola, Phenomaman, Waterboy

Okay okay, hear me out on this, I'm gonna mix a few of them together:

-the entire Z-team is just a band of singers and every single villain they encounter are just rival groups of singers (iykwim)

-and it's like, a competition (with no one dying because what the fuck I'm not thinking about that today)

-but Waterboy is kind of like the substitute singer (not at will) and Prism is so the main singer

-Waterboy and Robert technically knew each other since they were young (childhood friends? I don't make the rules)

-waterboy plays guitar (it's my canon, I do what I want)

-also I know Robert would have nicknames for waterboy that would be anything sweet or water related

-they fought once before going to the stage and Robert got injured after the song

-Waterboy was crying the entire way to the hospital (even in the hospital too, he almost flooded the entire floor)

-Waterboy kept sobbing and apologizing the entire time while Robert tried to calm him down (and saying that it wasn't his fault, once he finally woke up)
