Ooh, another live statement, those are always good

There doesn't seem to have been any supernatural event in her life before this, so it isn't like Michael, where his prey escaped and then he got it back later, so I wonder what he means by marked

Is this going to be another meat episode? What is it with this podcast and meat?

"I started to wonder if the Ukrainian mafia was involved in some full-on Sweeney Todd body disposal" (...) "it didn’t mean they were selling the meat to the public. That would be a massive and unnecessary risk, and organized crime wasn’t big on unnecessary risk" Call it morbid curiosity, how would someone find out that it was human meat? Aside from an investigation on the mafia itself leading the police there, how would that kind of thing be found out?

TMA 42 - Liveblog

So first she says that "You can always tell when Grifter’s Bone has been on, they’ll tell you, because of all the torn-off ears" and then there's a character that get's quiet when Grifter's Bone is mentioned and always has his ears covered? I see where this is going

Well, that's not ominous at all

I mean, you did say they usually snuck in to play, so it makes sense that they weren't listed anywhere

"My phone says it’s incorrectly formatted somehow" huh, that reminds me of way back in the beginning of season 1, when they mentioned that some statements couldn't be recorded on the computer. I wonder if that's what happened? Maybe she would've managed to record it with a tape recorder or something else as old time-y? Not that she could've known, of course, but I wonder...

This feels very much like a red herring. Like, ok, I agree with him that Gertrude was probably killed by a person - she did die because of bullets to the chest - but I doubt it was one of Jon's co-workers. For one, there's a matter of motive and I don't feel like any of Jon's assistants have one? Sasha is automatically out, because she's dead and her being the murderer would be anticlimatic. Can't be not!Sasha, because the table only got there recently and also if it had killed Gertrude it would have taken her place. Tim and Martin don't have a motive that I can think of. That might change in the future if we get more info, but I still very much doubt it was either of them. Might've been Elias, but that feels a bit like a red herring too.

Really, the only one that got anything out of her death - at least that I know for now - is Jon himself, aka the pov character that is 100% not the killer.

Tbh my main suspicion is that it was spook-related. That one cult a few episodes back, for example, seemed to really have it out for her. Maybe one of the cult members realised the rituals weren't working and got himself a gun? Idk, not a lot of evidence either, but I really don't think Jon is going at it from the right angle

Gertrude??

Oh, wait, wasn't there an episode in season 1 that mentioned a russian circus?

Yeah, I think it is the circus from that episode! The woman's grandfather was part of it when he was younger, I think? If I'm right, then the sounds she's hearing should from the calliope

Undead tiger?

No, not undead, then. Mechanical? A bit odd for the time period, but then again, after all the stuff that I've already heard, it shouldn't be that much of a stretch

Huh, her reaction to the circus is a bit like Jon's whenever there was a Leitner in the statement, just... Accepting that it was a thing that happened and that it was supernatural. Took me a bit by surprise, I guess I'm too used to Jon "skeptic-unless-undeniable" Sims

"They do not appear to have been disturbed, but the drawer in which I kept them is slightly more open than I left it" huh, that's interesting. I still don't think any of the assistants murdered Gertrude, so I wonder what whoever did this was up to?
