I feel really sorry for the babies who grew up only playing BOTW and TOTK. They have no account for taste in GOOD Zelink pairings
Maybe something with Minish Cap? And stars for the prompt? Hope your week is going better 💖💖💖

The drawer slid open with a light rumble. The wood was old and clunky, so it took a few tries for Link to get it open. "Yeah, I nearly forgot about it!"
He shuffled through the drawer's contents until he came across a kinstone piece: one that was gold and smooth, save for a star-like carving on either surface. It was unlike most of the kinstones he had collected in the past, more so resembling a broken coin. He presented it to Zelda, his childhood friend whom he invited once he remembered the strange object existed. "Grandpa and I found this out in the woods when I was little. Pretty far in. I can't believe I didn't show you!"
Perhaps he had forgotten about it back then, when their attention spans were even shorter. But boy, would it have given him some serious bragging rights!
Zelda came close to look, and her cheek pressed against his. It left his face a bit warm, though it never really had when they were little. He stayed put, anyway, and brought it up more to show her.
"Pretty cool, huh? You gotta wonder where the other half is." He gained a mischievous grin. "I bet it's with a monster. In a big, scary treasure den."
Usually, when they were little, comments like that would scare Zelda up a wall— even if she was at full confidence in real situations.
This time, however, Zelda's expression went blank. Not exactly unamused, but as if she wasn't listening whatsoever! Link blinked as his face became flushed.
Did she think that was a stupid idea?
It seemed she was just in deep thought, as suddenly she sprung up with all of her life returned to her. "I just remembered something, I have to go! Bye!"
And then, she raced right out of his room. She poked her head back in for only a moment, with only a: "Meet me in the fields later, kay?" And then, from his room, he heard the front door thud.
What just happened?
Link awkwardly shoved the kinstone piece into his pocket.
He hadn't the slightest clue when to meet her there or why— especially when they were already hanging out at his house— but there was no stopping Zelda when she had something in mind.
Link had to assume "later" meant "tonight," and "the fields" meant "their usual spot." He guessed right with her most of the time, so he trusted his gut.
Once the hour came, he made his way out.
Zelda was waiting for him, luckily, and seemed rather bored. He wondered if he had guessed wrong on how late she'd be expecting him... But, before he could apologize, she spotted him and dragged him up the hill.
"About time! The sun's almost fully set!" Strangely, this seemed more like a decree of anticipation than her scolding him. "Do you have that piece with you?"
He felt around in his pocket until he found it. Thank goodness he had it on him, since she never instructed him to bring it along...
As soon as Zelda saw it in his hand, she used hers to raise it. Once Link held the kinstone piece up, she reached into a hidden pocket along her skirt.
Out she pulled an identical piece— the other half of the star glinted with the new moonlight.
"The other piece!" Link gasped.
"Uh-huh. It belonged to my ancestors— I found it in a chest at the Royal Valley when I was little. The Princess during the War of Chaos wasn't buried there, though her father was... I guess she must have asked to be put in the woods instead."
Huh. The woods where Link had found the piece were certainly old, but he had never encountered ruins of a tomb there. He and Zelda always played out there when they snuck away.
"Wait— Are we graverobbers?" Link rose a brow. He didn't exactly wanna get in trouble, even if he was no stranger to messing with burial sites. It... sounded worse in his head once he thought about it too long.
"No way! I think they wanted us to find these. To unite the pieces." Her piece began to glow the instant it came close to his, but before they had even made contact. "I'm sure of it!"
So, the kinstone was reunited. It shimmered as though the sun were out, with rays bouncing all the way back into the dark blanket of sky. It poked little holes to create new stars and thus a new constellation.
The ancient gift painted a picture of a clover and a flower in the sky, nearly intertwined. The way they bowed to one another in such respect, it almost resembled a heart; and, with the way the flower's petals reached towards the clover's leaves, perhaps even a kiss.

Echoes of Wisdom Headcanon Countdown
༺ Day 44▪︎ 55 Left
Minish Cap Zelda is an optimist - almost sickeningly so. Oftentimes, during his adventure, Link tries to be more like her so he can persist. Before that, he could get a bit grumpy. Although both were quick to pout (and Zelda the more emotional of the two), Zelda was always the quickest to recover. She could go from sobbing one minute to stubbornly clinging onto the bright side the next! And with Ezlo's never-ending snark, Link needed to be that person this time around...
Imagine Zelda's surprise when she watches this change through her dreams!
