By the time he’s getting ready for dinner at Leo’s the following evening, he’s feeling pretty miserable about it.
In fact, it’s how most of his day had gone so far; he’d gotten a text from Angel that he’d had to shoot down as well as a message from Xever reminding him of a job they were supposed to be heading to together the day after the next. It opens up a gawping pit of anxiety in the bottom of his gut that he’s able to expertly ignore for the time being as he shuts off his phone and pockets it away.
He saunters into Raph and Alopex’s room and starts rooting through his brother’s side of the closet to take his mind off the million and one things racing through it currently.
“Still want me to hold up my deal with the makeup?” Alopex asks him where she’s perched on the edge of their bed, sheets messily strewn across the old mattress, a compact mirror in one hand, the other delicately and carefully applying thick mascara to her lashes.
Mikey pulls out a respectable looking sweater, probably a touch too big for him, no doubt it’ll swamp him and make him look way smaller than he already was, but it’s the best he’s going to get out of the rest of the clothes Raph had. He takes out a pair of jeans and an old, tattered belt for good measure.
“Nah,” he says, folding the array of clothes over his arm as he turns to face the back of her head where she sits. “It’s fine. Gives me that bad boy image, y’know.”
Alopex huffs a laugh but it lacks any real conviction that she was at all impressed or amused.
“Offer’s yours,” is what she says as she sticks the wand back in its tube and peers into the small, round mirror to carefully inspect her handiwork.
Mikey dresses himself in the bathroom, Raph pounding at the door as he urges him to hurry up, he briefly catches sight of himself in the dirtied mirror, halting him in his tracks despite his brother’s protestful arguing on the other side of the door.
There’s not much he can do in terms of his hair – it’s kind of a wild, unkempt mess that just sits atop of his head, dried out and in desperate need of some kind of treatment.
If he wasn’t currently saving for more important things in his life right now, he might have used his last good paycheck from Hun on twist outs or even braids like he’d had done so before.
He roots around the shelf behind the mirror before he leaves in hopes that Alopex or even Raph had something that would work for his hair but he comes up short. Clicking his tongue, he might be able to coerce Leo into letting him borrow something before his poor hair snapped right off.
“Mikey! Let’s go!” Raph bellows impatiently with a fist knocking hard against wood.
“Alright!” He yells back, looking at himself one last time before heading for the door. “I’m coming, jeez.”
