June is National PTSD Awareness Month! Please do not forget that the BIPOC community faces higher rates of PTSD compared to White Americans. This is in part due to racial trauma.
If you’re looking to begin to learn more about this, HERE is a link to a general APA article that has an overview. Below is a short quote from the article that I found important:
"Many White people are socialized to demonstrate non-racist values by not talking about race. However, this approach leaves such clinicians ill-equipped to have conversations about race with their clients of color, and so it is even less likely they will be able engage in productive conversations surrounding traumatic experiences of racism."
