The terrible truth of the time is that we always assume the worst of people. Is the art of a constructive discourse, where all parties are interested in dissolving misunderstanding and reaching a common ground dead?
Is it just en vogue to insult each other instead of asking for intentions and carefully correcting any honest mistakes? Or is it the new normal?
Can we please all step back and try to be thoughtful and fair?
But no. We can't. So many people are so damaged by life that they would bite the hand extended in peace, because they are unable to see it as anything but a threat - and this, this is the worst. That we have managed to make humanity fall apart in ways that people are no longer able to accept other opinions, not because they are bigoted or mean, but because they are unable to see the inbetween.
They were burned by intolerance for so long that all they can see now is black and white. The greys of The our not ours but not theirs either are lost.
I started this day amused by the whole matter. Now it makes me just sad.
I would apologize for any accidental pain or insult, but it is simply not possible. The people don't want to listen, all they want to is rant. *shrugs* If it makes them feel better: so be it. I wish them all the best. I wish them to grow up into a world, where this hostility is no longer necessary as a coping mechanism. I wish them a world, where they can honestly wish for a good discord with, even (or especially ) with people who disagree with them. It's so fruitful, so instructive to have a good honest discussion, even if at the end one can only agree to disagree. I try it every now and then - but this is not it...
