I think a red flag of people hating ToA with a vengeance, is that they seem to think they'd be Percy, or Annabeth, or Jason when thrown into their situations, but they'd most likely be Lester.
Most of us would likely be Lester.

So my boy lay there in a seizure-like state for HOURS until someone found him, because everyone was busy?? And Leo says, they'd likely not checked on him for another what? couple hours? if Agamethus had not wanted to talk to him!
Bro, there are many moments of deserved, humorous humbling of Apollo's terrible ego, but then other times the books are just
Ya'll remember when Apollo lowkey got mad, too many people had a name ending with the same letter as his, hence making it a point to say he'd call Jo "Josephine"....and then never followed up on that?
Yeah good times
I will never get over this. I will never get over this, because this is a first-person POV!
Apollo really stood there and said "Wow this notoriously uncaring, cold-hearted, egocentric maniac seems genuinely hurt by my actions."
"Anyways"
Ah content warning mention of physical assault ig
I recently reread - well relistened to the audiobooks of TOA and I was honestly taken aback by how graphic and dark they are from the start. The scene with Cade and Mikey was horrible! They kick Apollo in the face, they beat him up so bad he momentarily blacks out. This is graphic, violent assault capable of traumatising most anyone into not leaving the house for a good while, if it happened to them.
How did anyone start reading this book, with that opening scene and then went: "Psh Yeah what a pathetic loser, Percy was way cooler than this. I'm not reading this!"
Obviously it's cool if anyone didn't like the books for whatever reason, but it's honestly amazing Apollo didn't just sit down in that ally and cry for the rest of all 5 books after that opener. I wanted to cry after this!
I find it so fascinating, that everytime Commodus makes an appearance, or is mentioned in ToA, the book feels it's necessary to explain to us, how insanely hot he is, often in excruciating detail.
And it's a first person narration.
Apollo really said
