As you may be able to tell, this sketch animatic took me a rather long time. Trials Of Apollo (really the whole Riordanverse) is honestly a super huge interest of mine and it always has been. Ever since I read the first Percy Jackson book I've been kinda stuck in it- maybe I'll never leave!

Anyway, I am also very interested in the history of Rome. As you can imagine, reading the Commodus section of the Historia Augusta was very fun for me. The fictional portrayal of him in ToA is also interesting in my opinion, especially because Apollo is my favorite character in PJO/HoO/ToA... or really anywhere in the series.

So yeah. I like Copollo a lot. What can I say? The fact that they are not good for each other has compelled me.

This idea for an animatic was actually inspired by a post by @/apollosgiftofprophecy! (https://www.tumblr.com/apollosgiftofprophecy/751466998199926784/apollo-commodus-be-like-they-are-very-veronica?source=share) It seemed like a good idea, so I went for it!

Copollo deserves to be toxic and unhealthy. "Like a dark romance mafia boss-?" worse actually. Commodus the type to bring Apollo constantly to the brink of death but never past because he can't lose Apollo again. Apollo the type to think he deserves it but he has people depending on him so he has to fight and continue to hurt Commodus over and over again.

The night in the bath haunts them both and neither can let the other forget it. The hands that once held you so gently grabbed your throat and squeezed. You can still feel them.

For two people that broke up almost 2000 years ago, they sure do have the vibe of that insanely toxic couple on your college campus that you keep getting second-hand embarrassment from as you pass by. Idk what the modern equivalent of drowning your ex in a bathtub would be tho.
