Unfriendly reminder that there isn't one single path persecutors have to follow to heal. They don't have to become a protector.

Some may become caretakers. Some may become hosts. Some may become gatekeepers. Some may become internal self helpers. Some may not want a role at all. It's entirely up to them.

Healing isn't solely for your benefit. It's for theirs too. They deserve the right to choose what their life and identity look like as they recover just as much as any other alter does. Autonomy is a basic right owed to every living being.
